Ko Seng — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

This was at one time my all time favorite restaurant in Samui and I had been recommending Ko Seng to everyone visiting Samui.

I revisited the restaurant on March 30,2024 after 5 years and was a bit disappointed with the taste and quality of the food. They once pride themselves as having one of the providers of freshest seafood and ingredients in Samui, on this visit we were the only one in the restaurant and the quality of seafood were not as fresh as I remember and the taste was not as flavorful as before and us more on the mild side.

May be it’s the new location, perhaps it was Sunday and the chef was not there. I sincerely hope that they can revive themselves to their glorious days and looking forward to my next visit again soon as I was really found...

We decided on Ko Seng for dinner on the penultimate night of our holiday to Samui, and were we glad. The restaurant is no-frills, airconditioned, and exceptionally clean, you feel like you're eating in the owner's house (they even have a display cabinet of figurines and toys). We ordered a steamed Pomfret, deep fried crab meat, malindjo leaves stir-fried with egg and finished with the glutinous balls in coconut milk for dessert. I visited this restaurant for dinner with my coworkers, and it was an amazing experience! The food was incredible, and the portions were huge. The seafood was exceptionally fresh. We ordered quite a bit and couldn’t finish it all, so we asked to take the leftovers home, and they were more than happy to pack it for us. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they even allowed us to bring our own wine without any extra charges, which was a kind gesture.
