Sabienglae lamai — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Food: I wanted something Southern, and my hotel receptionist recommended me this place. All dishes we ordered were incredible. Although I wanted it to be spicier (I do eat spicier than most Thai people), I was very satisfied with the taste.

We ordered: 🥓Pork belly stir fried with shrimp paste: it was incredible. Highly recommended. 🦀Yellow curry with crab: also incredible. 🌿Liang leaves stir fried with eggs: I loved the charcoal flavor. It’s hard not to make this dish good, but it’s also hard to make it extraordinary either. This place nailed it. 🐙Octopus stir fried with pineapples: this was a strange dish for me. It tasted good, but I wasn’t a big fan of it. My husband loved it though. Kua-gling: The taste was good, but the chicken was too dry. Maybe pork would have been better for this dish. I would order that next time. 🍨Coconut ice cream: My husband proclaimed it the best one he’s had in Thailand 😂 it’s very creamy and rich. I loved it.

Service: the staff were nice and friendly. The food was fast.

Overall: I would come here...

An awkward experience founded in general confusion over which table ordered what dishes. Sitting there, I noticed waiters walking around with dishes, looking for the right table.

In our case, they served our order to the next table. It sat for some time uneaten while they conversed openly over the dish. Eventually we notified the staff that our dish may have been served to the wrong table. Upon realization of this, they decided to simply move the dish over to our table, huh!? I asked them to please make a fresh one, without possible contamination from strangers' conversion on it. They reluctantly returned it to the kitchen, brought out a cold version 5min later, same one?? I took a bite and confirmed it was cold. We requested a fresh dish. They brought it away then 5min later a hotter version, with bite missing returned. Ugh, FP. Poorly handled in afraid.

One of the worst restaurants experiences I ever had. I went there with my girlfriend in July 2019 and we ordered Garlic Bred, Chicken Sa–Tay, Mussels and Papaya Crab Salad. The bred and chicken was completely dry and had no taste at all. The mussels were also dry and smelt so bad that we could not finish eating them. The worst of all was the Papaya Salad with Crab, which was not marinated at all and there was no crab in it. The only thing were the empty shells with no meat. When we complained, the only answer was we should open the shell with our hands, which we did but there was still no meat inside. In the end we left the restaurant early and they did not give us any discount or alternative dish, they even charged extra for service. Altogether the food is quite expensive for Thailand (tourist prices) and we can say the food as well as the service is terrible. I cannot recommend this...
