Samovar — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

Cozy place located on the south end of Chaweng serving predominantly Russian menus and specialties. Their offerings seem quite extensive and have a lot to offer. The restaurant also offer Thai cuisine, which is an added plus. I don't dine too much of Russian nor I consider to know much, but most items seem to be on the salty side. Despite this, I highly enjoyed some menus such as the cooked mushrooms with rice, the draniki with cured salmon and the cooked capsicum. The cooked meat ball topped with cheese was tasty and nice; although, a little heavy with the salt. The "Baltic-style" salmon and shrimp soup was described as creamy and contained butter (and was quite overly salty); although, I barely tasted or even smelt the butter on there, nor was it creamy in texture. I'd refer to the image on their menu, which displays the dish to be contrastingly creamier than what was served at my table. The salmon meat in the soup were dry and so were the shrimps. The sweet part such as the dumpling didn't do it for me unfortunately, but I'd say this is very much a personal taste. Their pancake looked particularly enticing as well as sumptuous in their servings with multiple condiments; although we didn't order it since we were just filled up. Overall, a good discovery of Russian cuisine in the more peaceful end of Chaweng.

We don’t liked the chebureki very dry and not tasty, you could hurt your gums with them, but there was a lot of fat in the inside. The dishes of our other friends were also not very tasty. The kvass was very sour. We did not want to conflict and say anything, but the manager came up and asked: was everything tasty? I answered, honestly - no! Really good east European food tastes like home. Service is horrible. First waiting 10 min to get menu and no staff is seen. Then delivered my girlfriend food atleast 20 min before mines. Should she wait until it get cold? Pork streak was red in the middle so we asked if they could bake it a bit more (Not mentioning that my gf wanted beef and got pork, and yes we said medium rare but how does that work on pig meat..).
