Simple Thai restaurant (which I like). The Thai oysters where really fresh, big and delicious. The tiger prawns were way to much barbequed and tasted way too smokey and dry. Sadly the Barracuda was catastrophic. Half a Barracuda was barbequed for a long time in Alu foiled. I had to wait 20 min after we ate the Prawns. Then I got a blackened huge piece of Barracuda, outside completely dry, inside raw. I never saw something like this. The huge piece of fish would have been 4 perfect slices, easy to cook. Nothing was added: no salt, no herb (or it burned off). The chef took it back without a problem. My advice: order anything but BBQ. And try...
Read moreFood was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary, side dishes average but it was CRAZY expensive. 4 people with drinks, 1 fish for 2, tiger prawns and a langoustine with squid to share for = 5000 baht. Seeing all the comments I was expecting a good value but we all were surprised when the bill came. No price were shown but seeing the prices on the menu we all thought it would be quite affordable, felt like a complete rip off and it seems they are taking advantage of the tourists. I will never bring anyone there anymore, so many better places to eat seafood in Lamai. Make sure you ask how much it will cost when ordering to avoid bad...
This is a mom-and-pop shop near Lamai Beach, which seems to be its only advantage. The store sign at the entrance is only in English and Chinese, and the menu is also exclusively in English, indicating that it caters mainly to tourists. When we entered, we were the only customers. For a proper meal, it's better to go to places with Thai signs and menus, where many local Thai people dine. We ordered coconut water, freshly squeezed pineapple juice, grilled fish, tom yum seafood soup, rice, and stir-fried vegetables. I watched the owner chop charcoal and light a fire at the entrance, spending a long time at the grill, thinking he was preparing to grill the fish for us. After all that effort, the female owner brought out a deep-fried fish from the kitchen. It's important to note that the price difference between grilled and fried fish is significant. At the same time, I saw the owner open a bottle of pineapple juice concentrate and mix me a glass of iced pineapple juice. The tom yum soup was quite mediocre, far inferior to many other Thai restaurants I've visited, likely due to insufficient galangal and lemongrass. The vegetables and coconut were passable, The utensils were also not clean, covered in dust, so we had to wash them again by ourselves. I would not recommend dining at...
