✔️Duck liver mousse(220 baht): 200g of duck liver paste comes in a jar served with crispy baguette slices. It is very buttery and fatty with prominent liver aroma, Its portion is very big and we could only eat half of it (2 people). You can have the rest of it for take away. It was a bit unorthodox for my taste but I got used to it very quickly and enjoyed it.
✔️Red tuna tartare with french fries and lettuce(400-450 baht): It is raw tuna meat combined with capers and spices. Very tasty and aromatic combination. Presentation was great. The price is justified and portioning is suitable for one person.
✖️Duck Cottage Pie: It takes 30-35 minutes to be ready and was a bit bland. It had a dominant potato taste and the other ingredients were subtle. Portion was filling and presentation was good.
Overall I enjoyed my meal very much and...
Read moreHad to wait a few days before reviewing this place because usually when raw meat or fish is involved in Koh Samui you get diarrhoea or worse! Anyway not here! Had tartare de boeuf, tartatre au thon and bouillabaisse. Fresh flavours for both tartares, maybe a bit more citrus, but, that's personal taste. Also snails, yummy! Crusty baguette v good for Koh Samui. As an ex Thai resident, I know bread is very hit and miss in Thailand. All very good. Service is excellent and friendly. Food comes out slowly as there is only 1 chef, the husband of the team at Petit Gourmand. Make sure u make a reservation and they close early, no walk ins at 8.30pm. Obviously it's going to be double to triple what you pay for Thai food. Also, cash only. We paid 2100 for 12 snails, the above mentioned mains,1 chocolate fondant, 2...
Read moreThere’s not a whole lot in Lamai for a nice family meal, but Petit Gourmand was a cute surprise. We shared the fondue and raclette as an entree, and they didn’t disappoint. It was the 1st time the kids had either and they thoroughly enjoyed both - the fondue bowl was wiped clean with excellent baguette. All of the charcuterie is homemade, truly awesome. We then shared the Beef Burginion, lasagne and mushroom chicken - all superb. It was also great to have a good garden salad - we’ve been in Thailand for nearly two weeks, and hadn’t realised how much I’d missed a good salad until tonight. Decent wine list, we enjoyed a medium bodied bottle of red to accompany the meal. The host is wonderful - really friendly and helpful, wouldn’t hesitate...
