Quite a hidden gem run by a super chill, lovely couple.
We were walking across the road and saw the sign outside: “No seating, stand only bar.” I was like, cool, I’ve never seen a cafe with no seating inside, so let’s go in.
I noticed that a lot of local people in Southeast Asia use the front space of their homes to run small businesses. I guess that’s why they don’t usually offer restrooms for customers. People live, work, and pour their lives into it. As visitors/foreigners, we should always respect their culture. It’s pretty common here, so it’s not a big deal for me.
They’ve got tons of cool vintage stuff, but the space doesn’t feel packed at all — you can just feel how much they love coffee and how much heart they’ve put into the place. The lighting inside is soft and hazy, giving this cute little cafe an even more retro and special vibe. The coffee tastes really good.
This is the kind of place where I don’t need to touch my phone — just enjoy the drinks, the music, and be present in the moment, away from the chaos of this huge city. The owners aren’t trying to market their cafe as some trendy Instagram spot; they’re pretty chill about it, and that’s what makes this place even more unique to me. I totally get why they put up the no-photo sign.
We chatted for a few minutes and already felt a connection. They were super friendly and helpful. They even gave us a list of local places to eat, and the coconut ice cream shop they recommended was awesome. Definitely want to visit them again next time...
Read moreBest coffee I've had in Bangkok, & honestly up there with the best I've had anywhere in months. Latte was so velvety, & had that perfect rich, sweet, smooth espresso taste that doesn't require adding any sugar. I couldn't help myself, I drank it so fast that I had ample time to follow it up with a tea latte, which was also very fine. Food options are minimal, & I was a little disappointed by the baguette with chicken liver pate --I was expecting a chewier texture like a proper French baguette, & the thin layer of pate didn't add much beyond a vague (but not unpleasant) saltiness. My partner got a croissant with butter & jam, which I thought was much better-- we ended up trading about halfway through, because he liked the baguette just fine, & took pity on me when he saw me longingly eyeing the rest his croissant.
Staff/owners were warm & friendly to the point that I never wanted to leave. Overall pricey compared to street vendors, of course (we can get 15 baht coffee with condensed milk on the corner outside our hostel, vs. this stuff which was 65 baht for a latte) but 100% worth it if you want to treat yourself to some truly...
Read moreStopped in for a morning coffee and bite. The iced latte was delicious and high quality, and the baguette was as well. Simple but done so well. The baristas/owners are friendly and kind. It’s a standing bar only inside, but it was fun to sip my coffee while looking around at all the vintage decorations and knick-knacks.
I just want to say an additional thank you to the man working there (possible the owner but I’m not sure). He originally miscounted my change, which I did not notice. It was my first day in Thailand and was still not used to the money. 5 minutes later he realized his mistake and gave me the remainder of my change. It wasn’t much money at all and I doubt I would have ever noticed, but his honesty and kindness really made an impression on me.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area looking for morning coffee or need a...
