I’ve been to Kampang ISAN Casual Dining (คำแพง) many times now, and each visit continues to impress me. It’s rare to find a place that maintains such a high level of consistency, but Kampang nails it — every single time. The food is truly authentic Isan, bursting with bold, spicy flavors and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
Some of my favorites include the som tum (papaya salad), grilled chicken, and larb — all perfectly seasoned and packed with that signature northeastern kick. The sticky rice is always warm and soft, and their dipping sauces are addictive. Even the simple dishes are elevated with care and attention to detail.
The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it great for anything from a quick lunch to a relaxed dinner with friends. The staff are always kind, attentive, and efficient, which adds to the overall great experience. You feel genuinely taken care of from the moment you arrive.
And I can’t leave out the iced tea — it’s honestly one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly sweet, cold, and refreshing — it balances out the heat of the food beautifully.
Kampang is a gem for anyone who loves Isan cuisine. Highly recommended and worth coming back to...
Read moreDespite a 30-minute wait for a table, this Thai papaya salad restaurant proved to be worth the patience. The compact, bustling space creates an intimate atmosphere, though it can feel somewhat crowded during peak hours.
The standout dish was undoubtedly their grilled chicken – beautifully marinated and grilled to perfection, it's an absolute must-try for any visitor. Their salads showcase authentic Thai flavors with well-balanced seasoning that stays true to traditional preparations. The portion sizes justify the pricing, offering good value for the quality received.
The service had some hiccups, with a noticeable 20-minute gap between our initial dishes and the final two orders, which appeared to have been overlooked. However, the staff handled the situation professionally, offering sincere apologies and expediting the remaining dishes.
Overall, while the restaurant may have room for improvement in service efficiency and space management, the exceptional food quality, particularly the grilled chicken, makes it a worthwhile dining...

Small menu but what they served was truly some of the best Isan food i’ve had in BKK. With ingredients sourced from Isan and the partner’s own recipes, you will be hard pressed to find fault in (unless you are a purist). It’s naturally tapered to a Bangkokian taste buds as Isan food can be quite over powering.
The highlight is the laab moo. Flavors were robust - the lime, the chili, the fresh herbs and with the ever subtle taste of toasted rice. The sauce was perfectly blended into the succulent minced pork without drenching it like in many places. But the twist has to be the pig skin, which gave the dish more texture.
The rest of the dishes were great - tom saap was multi dimensional as you taste sour, spice and the hint of nutty after taste. The adding of fried ikan bilis to the mango salad was genius and of course, the perfectly grilled pork neck...
