Finally, got to have lunch here since the amazing couple from Tupiniquim--an Edinburgh local treasure--took over the kitchen summer of 2019. As a discriminant foodie from NYC I can say the food here is excellent and of great quality and value. As a person of caribbean decent, I long for the flavours of Latin America--and so their food has been such a welcome treat. If you know Tupiniquim, you'll be pleasantly surprised that they refresh old favourites with a new spin, so not just same old same old--e.g. crepes more like Brasilian tacos. They also have other things not available in the Police box at Tupiniquim amazing tapioca appetisers and a childhood favorite fried green plantain chips! The coconut fish stew is exceptional and my family can not wait to visit again. Best bit is on a winters day like today--no need to stand outside, can have warm comfort food in the company of lovely hosts, chefs and quirky...
Read moreIf Isaac isn’t behind the bar, I’m not drinking. Period.
Walked into The Doghouse expecting a quiet pint… walked out three hours later with a new best friend (Isaac),
questionable life advice, and a cocktail I’m 90% sure he made up on the spot — and somehow, it was amazing.

Whether he's slinging pints, cracking jokes, or DJing the vibes from behind the bar, Isaac is the kind of bartender that makes you forget your ex, your job, and your dignity — in the best way possible.
Give this man a raise, a cape, or at least his own signature cocktail on the menu (may I suggest “The Isaac: dangerously smooth, unexpectedly spicy”).
10/10 would let him talk me into another...
Read moreGreat for live Music. The first time i went there i was invited by one if my close friend because his mate was performing there.
It was a full house which made it a bit hard to move around as we enjoyed the music because the space isnt much but they offered great music and I loved it.
I didn't drink much that as I had had already had enough from the previous venue which was my place where we drunk our intelligence on and off talking about the night as much as our music (rappers) and how the Dog House would really help the fanbase of "NRK" (Niddrie's Ruthless Kings) as well as stage experience.
It was amazing. I can say we had a few boxes ticked from our creative bucket list.
P.S. All people are treated equally and fairly.
