My wife and I arrived at The Kings Wark after a day out in Edinburgh. We were catching the bus back to Leith and decided to stop off at Shore a little before our destination stop. We really were glad that we did. What a warm welcome we received from Dave & Ian at The Kings Wark. So much so , that we decided to have a meal along with our drinks. We both plumped for the Battered Haddock, chips , peas and tartar sauce. The Haddock was large, firm textured and the batter was crispy and perfectly seasoned . The chips were ample and well cooked. The tartar sauce was a revelation. Simply gorgeous. My wife Karin chose sticky toffee pudding with ice cream as desert and I had a 12 year old scotch ( chosen for me by Dave) The perfect end to a perfect day. šā¤ļø

Visited this lovely gastropub on a Saturday for lunch following a walking tour of the area. The main seating areas, with views of the waterfront, were either occupied or reserved but we were seated in the bar area at the back. The staff were all really friendly and, before we received our food, offered us a table in the restaurant when one became free - although we decided to stay put. Three of us had the muscles which were gorgeous - although I should have stuck with the lovely fresh bread and butter as the portions of chips we ordered were way too salty. The fourth order was vegetarian haggis which, despite the contradiction in terms, was apparently very nice! Would definitely recommend.

Traditional and authentic. We stopped here for few drinks on a Saturday afternoon, and the owner was so kind to accommodate us, even if they were very busy and we didnāt have a reservation. After a glance to the menu we decided to share a portion of mussels and the chowder soup. If the drinks with Edinburgh gin were spot on, the food was just incredible! The soup was creamy and perfectly balanced and the fish was super fresh. The whole atmosphere was great, and it really felt to be in an inn by the sea, Italian style. We actually found out that the pub belongs to a very old and historical building, so it actually holds a long tradition. We had great time. Highly recommend it.

Two of us shared haggis spring rolls w butternut ketchup (life-changingly good!), a fish curry & the fish & chips. Really, really lovely pub food. The fish curry had hake pieces in it & was topped with a crispy sea bass fillet, naan & raita. The deep fried haddock in beer batter was fresh & perfectly cooked through. Chips were good & tartare was nicely creamy & sour. Only small criticism was the peas could have been mushy peas instead of blanched. If I was in Edinburgh any longer, I would have eaten here again. Staff are very welcoming too.

Lovely, helpful service. Great food and beautiful picturesque view from outdoor seating. The beer choice was a bit limited but there was plenty of other drinks choice. It was a very sunny day but a week day so it was easy to get a seat outdoors. I've seen the place packed at the weekend. My friend had the lamb on the bone special which I tasted and it was very tender and tasty, beautifully cooked. A bit pricey for the food and drinks, nearly £6 a pint, but then during lockdown and after Brexit it seems the norm for the capital.

Only in Edinburgh for a day and this pub was worth stopping at. Lovely setting by the waterfront and a nice way to end the day at the city. From the specials of the day, the starter of fish cakes were fresh and tasty, venison with mashed potatoes was excellent. From the main menu the sea food was cooked perfectly, salt cod, salmon and king prawns with a moreish aioli. Topped off with sticky toffee puddingā¦delicious! Service was warm, welcoming and friendly. Definitely recommend!
