Tucked away in the corner of this well used recreation area is the authenticated birthplace of the ‘modern’ game of golf. It comprises of a (bronze) figure of a player on the tee, along with three plaques giving its historical link to the birth of golf and the introduction of the original 13 rules of play. The links are a common area for walking, dog walking, football and other localised community events. The links were also home to a cricket club but am not sure if cricket is still played there. It is a well established outdoor space and well served by flat footpaths that crisscross the suitably maintained green spaces. Making the area accessible to anyone with mobility challenges. Numerous bus routes and the trams will get visitors there from all directions pointing to Leith and the city centre. A wall around the perimeter of the links should take a seasoned recreational walker approximately 40 / 45 minutes...

3rd June 2023, same as previous reviews. Always a pleasant evening....2nd Jan 2023, as good as before. The neds have spray painted the playground but then once a ned, always a ned. Update of an earlier review, this one on 12th of July 22. Went down by myself in the evening to lie about in the sun. The grass had recently been cut, as usual there was no rubbish, the occasional assortment of local neds were not in evidence. We are very lucky to have it on doorstep. I didn't go so far as the children's play park because my granddaughter no longer uses it so I have no reason to. Very well worth a visit for a sit down and wander around, and I will continue to go over many...

They say Leith Links was the home of the game of Golf but its likely Golf was never an game but an well honed hunting technique..The term Birdie used in the game and the Links giant flock of seabirds gives the game away so-to-speak only its not an game its serious and its all about survival...An hunter would approach the huge settled flock whilst another readied and directly aimed an club and projectile toward it...The first hunter would disturb the flock to have it go aloft whilst the second hunter fired off the projectile into the mass of the fleeing flock hoping to strike an random Bird and bring down an meal...An Birdie indeed but this ones for...

I use this park daily for poochie walks and I Jog through it to get to the beach. I also use the kiddy swings & frames when my nephew visits and he loves it 😍 There are fruit Orchards by the cricket greens which are now producing fruit, like secret gardens. There is a market on the 1st Sunday of every month in the allotment. I sat on rugged logs drinking green tea in the sunshine 😊 It's a park with a great deal of history, much worth a visit if you want to say you have been to the place golf was first played.

Huge green expanse. Flat areas for cricket and picnics, a few mounds to chase small children up and down or to slid down in winter. Joins to the railway path for running, cycling or walking. Hosts interesting festivals throughout the year. On good transport routes. Fantastic play park for children. New-ish (early 2019) but didn't get used during lockdown so still in excellent upkeep.
