Valpark Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Trinidad

I don’t know what happened to this restaurant but I had absolutely horrendous!! dine-in experiences at my last two visits. If I could rate my experience 0 stars or even minus figures, I would definitely do so to warn people. The service on both occasions was extremely poor, lackluster, the waitress was rude, there were long waiting times for my food and even when it came time to pay my bill, I was overcharged and I had to query it. There was another long waiting time to fix my bill. My aunt came from Canada and I took her there for dinner and to say that the experience was embarrassing was an understatement. Every single thing that they could do wrong they did, rude waitress, wrong order, long waiting times for the food. We went there to relax and the experience ended up being so stressful since it was just one thing after the other. At some point I just gave up however I vowed that I would never again return to this restaurant. I was almost speechless because never in my life I ever experienced service like this and the restaurant never apologized or even acknowledged. It’s almost like it’s normal and commonplace to treat people like this. I’m paying for a service and this is what I get. The nerve of these people. To make matters worst, I sent a message to them informing of my experience, they never acknowledged and I also wrote a review twice on their Instagram page. Can u believe these people had the never to delete my reviews not once but twice! Absolutely no acknowledgement of the situation whatsoever like it never happened, not even an apology. I am appalled at this establishment and can’t believe that things like this are allowed to happen in this day and age! Shame on y’all or wait I forgot cause u all...

The portions are too small. Their menus are not up to date so the prices you see on the menus does not reflect on the bill so you end up paying more. You would think with all that extra money they could print a new menu.

The sweet and sour pork was great but not worth almost 70 for 8 pieces.

The bean sprouts that was included in every single dish was disgusting, rotten and black. If you know that it's going bad then throw it away. Why give me to eat. And it was soo much disgusting rotten bean sprouts. I've never hated something in my life so much. It felt like I was eating hair and I could very well have been.

The rice was undercooked. I ordered shrimp rice, chicken chow mein, beef chow mein, sweet and sour pork, shrimp rice, spring rolls, wontons.

The customer service was okayish. Could be better. Got seated then ignored for over half an hour was ready to walk out. The restaurant was fairly empty. Only two tables taken which included mines.

The chicken chow mein was the tiniest pieces of steamed chicken I have ever seen in my life. I regret not just going to my usual Chinese restaurant and spending less than 100 on four boxes of food. Ended up spending almost 400 on awful food (minus the sweet and sour pork which was great but not worth the money)

The decorations need a lil renovation a lil remodelling. Dusty and old.

Education is neither free nor cheap.

I will certainly not be returning.

We went for a romantic and relaxing dinner 27.07.2022. The standard was less than what I met the first time I visited few years ago (1997). It was supposed to be a romantic dinner. Instead there was radio (I do not like all the talking from the radio) blasting loudly overhead instead of soft romantic music as in the past or live piano/guitar playing. They used to give you the warm towel to wipe hands, well none of that anymore. No fresh juices, only fruta. As for napkins, it was paper, not the expected cloth to place over your lap/chest. I spilled food on my clothes so I placed the napkin over my chest and when I lean over to eat, the napkin (because it was short) drenched in my food (from the liquid). Lastly, when paying the bill via credit card at the counter, We were asked where we WANTED TO LEAVE THE TIP IN THE CARD OR SEPARATE. How bold to demand a tip for such horrible expectations of a romantic evening out. So I asked myself what did we pay so much money for when the food,drinks and atmosphere was typical of a regular Chinese restaurant and we could have paid a whole lot less and ppl not demanding a tip or pay for dining in.A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE.
