Restaurant La Daurade — Restaurant in Maghreb

I ate there recently. I went due to ggooggle saying it was top rated. It is definitely a nice restaurant and I ate on the terrace next to the marina walkway. The service was very good, and I wasn’t accosted outside like so many other restaurants in the area. I scanned the menu outside in relative comfort without being asked to come in 👌👍. That is always a bonus to me and something I always take into account of it being a valid restaurant. There were plenty of clientele there already at 14:30 when I arrived, and I thought I might have been too late for lunch. But it was ok to accommodate me at this time. The waiters were very courteous and professional. I wanted the fish of the day ‘loup du mer’ but when it arrived, it was 500gms and way too big for me to eat, so I settled in just grilled plaice. I got the usual nibbles as a starter which were nice and slightly spicy as usual. Then the fish arrived. It was two nice small filets and I enjoyed them. One was slightly undercooked, but I am not complaining about that, because overall the service and the rest of the food was very good. Food was good, although a bit expensive. 60 tnd for 6 prawns, see pictures for yourself. However the restaurant does not hold customers accountable for their children which completely ruins other people’s dinners.

A big family with maybe 8-10 children was sat across the terrace. They were all the way across the terrace from us, but all 10 of their children were next to us playing and displacing the decoration of the outside area. They were yelling, harassing the poor kittens who tried to run from them, running around, completely disrupting us and the two tables next to us who were also complaining.

The parents got to enjoy a nice, quiet evening away from their children while other tables had to deal with their kids the entire evening.

If you would like a romantic or calm dinner, I couldn’t recommend this place less. When we complained about it, the waiter told us the staff already let the parents know but it didn’t change anything and they didn’t want to cause an issue or start drama with them, and that two other tables had already complained before us.

We came here for partner’s birthday celebration. We were welcomed by the host shown to a table laden with flowers. They had a small menu. We ordered the seafood sharing platter for 2 that came with chips and vegetables. And ice creams (4 scoops), to finish. They gave us complementary small starter plates of different salad vegetables, dips and bread. It was just enough food for us. The seafood was fresh and very tasty. There was a live jazz Tunisian guitarist playing that evening which was entertaining. The service not so good and they could have been a bit more attentive. Price was reasonable.
