We had such a disappointing experience at Shang Palace at the Shangri-La. The food was honestly awful. The sweet and sour soup tasted like straight-up sauce — not soup — and when we sent it back, our server Oguz actually asked why we were sending it back, which was incredibly unprofessional. Every dish was drowning in sauce, heavy, and completely lacking in flavor or freshness. Nothing about the meal was enjoyable.
The service was somehow even worse. Oguz messed up my dad’s drink order, brought the wrong one, and then made him try it in front of him instead of just fixing it. We even had to ask for water multiple times because he never brought it on his own. He kept disappearing throughout the meal and avoided our table for long stretches.
For a $400 meal, it wasn’t even worth $100. Between the terrible food, inattentive service, and overall lack of hospitality, this was hands down the worst restaurant experience we’ve had — especially shocking for somewhere inside the Shangri-La.

The menu offers a fantastic variety of dishes, each meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. I had the pleasure of trying their signature Peking Duck and the delicate Dim Sum platter, both of which were perfectly cooked and presented. Every bite was a harmony of textures and flavors, and it was evident that a lot of care went into crafting each dish.
The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, happy to offer recommendations, and eager to accommodate dietary preferences.
Overall, Shang Place exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just craving exceptional food, this restaurant delivers a 5-star experience. I can’t wait to return and explore more...
Read moreThe management and service are a joke. Don’t waist your money. I am staying at another 5 star hotel nearby of which made the reservation for me. I arrived and was rudely told I cannot dine here though I had a reservation because I had shorts on. I told them my hotel made the reservation and then the manager came out and made an exception. They forced me to sit in the middle of the 2 others in my party so no one could see me wearing shorts. They also made me wear an apron to cover the fact I was wearing shorts quite humiliating. What is even worse is another guest was seated shortly after us with shorts on. Throughout the rest of the meal we we’re awkwardly stared at unwelcomingly by management. Do not go here. They unprofessional and rude and should not be in business. This is the 21st century you financial ability is not determined by whether or not you wear shorts....
