SG folks can rest easy. This should be familiar as the Turkish version of the SG chap chye bpun (mixed veg rice). Literally a canteen like atmosphere whereby you can select from heaps of local dishes and eat till your heart's content. Seems like a place where the locals goes for their meals so prices are very reasonable. Food quality wise is definitely authentic and decent but not overwhelming. I'll say try it for the experience. 😃. They even supply drinking straws n tooth picks! 🤗 Go for the traditional Turkish chay (black tea) in the local tea shop just outside the canteen. Definitely local ambience whereby you sit on small stood and have a smoke or play backgammon (or whatever) while sipping tea..how cool is that! 🤗

Balkanlar Lokantası in Şair Leyla Sokak, Beşiktaş, is a small gem offering a variety of delicious dishes. The place is clean, and the staff are very kind and attentive. Although it’s self-service, the staff serve generous portions of the food you select. The prices are excellent—definitely worth every penny. If you find yourself near the Beşiktaş pier and are looking for a quick, satisfying meal before your boat trip, it’s just a 3-minute walk away!

A self-service, canteen-style restaurant franchise that serves very affordable food in Istanbul. You enter the restaurant, grab a tray and tell the staff which dishes you want, and then pay. I paid 103 lira. It is "Turkish home cooking food". Not the best tasting. I found it was bland, but does fulfil the job of filling your hunger. I had the chickpeas, bulgur pilav and soup. Thankfully, there were condiments such as olive oil, salt, black pepper, chilli pepper powder, sumac, oregano, etc, to make the dishes taste better in accordance to one's preference. Suitable for dining alone or with one other person or so.

No frills canteen restaurant for a quick and cheap meal. There are a number of meat dishes to choose from, as well as soups, salad, and baked dishes. You can just point at what you want, no verbal communication required. Line moves fast and the staff keep things moving by cleaning up tables even faster. I got two meat dishes, a salad, rice, and a can of coke for 25 TL.

It’s a mom-and-pop self-service restaurant, very simple but clean, and the food is made with love. Prices are super accessible in a student-shopping area. Perfect for a quick bite that warms your belly.

Большой выбор блюд и десертов по приемлемой цене и на любой вкус - и вегетарианские, и мясные, и рыбные. Питались только в этом кафе на протяжении всего пребывания в городе, потому что в других заведениях цены в разы больше! Очень вежливый, дружелюбный, приветливый персонал, поэтому всегда было приятно возвращаться. Своевременно убирают со столов, кругом чисто, аккуратно, места всегда есть, хоть и народу частенько в очереди много стоит. В целом впечатление на 5+, огромное спасибо всему персоналу и руководителю кафе!
