Summit Bar & Terrace — Restaurant in Beşiktaş

This was a bit strange.

We were advised to try this bar so we went up. The hostess said they only accepted reservations. We go down to our room and call to make a reservation. She tells us the only time available is in ten minutes. Seems odd since we were JUST there. But we say ok. We then get ourselves back together and start to head up when the same hostess calls and cancels… we ask if we should reschedule. She tells us they only take reservations until 9 (it was past that now…) My partner politely asked how late they stay open and she said midnight on Friday which it was. He asks then if we should come back up then since reservations are not accepted past this time (even though we made one and then she canceled it) and she made it very clear there would never be a seat available for us. My partner even asked if bar seating was open and she said they never, ever allow bar seating.

Went online at the recommendation of another guest and it had bar seating available.

By then it was pretty clear what was going on so we opted to go elsewhere for our anniversary.

Honestly, it felt like she was targeting us specifically as people she did not want in her bar…

Quite disgusting for a Hilton. I truly hope that this employee is not reflective of your values and perhaps she can find employment elsewhere if this is...

We went as we were staying at the hotel. The bar food was OK. We had the calamari, edemami and some chips. Nothing earth shattering to make. The sushi though was a disaster. The roll was not made using sushi rice and the rice used (we suspect basmati) was over seasoned.

We had what was supposed to be gyoza but it was more a steamed dumpling. The filling once again over seasoned and the dumpling itself really thick and difficult to eat. The sashimi was the only part of the sushi menu that was enjoyable and tasted as it shd have. The bill was £105 for 3 of us. For food that we didn't enjoy that's not ideal. Grateful we didn't spend anymore than that though as it would be possible there. Service was also pretty poor and inattentive. In all I'm don't understand all the positive reviews. I am guessing they are for the view. For us the view on its own...

What a real shame, I was expecting good things with the Summit Bar & terrace.

Let me start by saying the staff are excellent and the views are incredible.

The food is really below average. The chicken burger tasted reheated and chicken tasteless. The tuna nigiri was not nice tuna, it did not taste fresh at all. The gyozas tasted frozen with hardly any filling, the filling was almost empty with small pieces of mush. Even the free plum tart given at the end of the meal was not good the based rock hard and plum not ripe.

It has the potential to be the best spot in istanbul with the amazing staff, beautiful views and the lovely touches of free tart, nibbles etc but the food is a major disappointment especially at the prices...
