We hadn't been there for a while because of something we were uncomfortable with the last time we went. They even called us after our last visit and invited us for breakfast, but we didn't go there either. However, we decided to give it another chance last week. I called Mr. Vedat at around 09:30 on Tuesday morning and made a reservation for 3 people for 19:30 on Friday evening. I kept the reservation up to date by informing them that we could experience a slight delay in the evening hours due to Istanbul's Friday traffic. Since the 3rd person had a last-minute job and could join later, we went as 2 people. We stated that we had a reservation and our names. They took us to the worst possible table for 2 people, a reservation made days in advance for 3 people at a restaurant located on the Bosphorus. We asked what we would have done if 3 people had come. The lady in charge said, I'll check your seats right away and let you know. She came back a few minutes later and said, "I'm sorry I can't help you." We got up from the table at the same second. We have been customers of Sunset Grill&Bar for years. We probably looked for an adventure for ourselves... Of course, such disrespectful behavior is unacceptable for a reservation that was made days in advance and especially for a good table. When I immediately called the person who made the reservation and told him the situation, I got the answer that it was ‘because of the intensity’. Because we are coming for free..!! We left and went to Sunset Grill&Bar. It is a good thing we did that. While thanking Sunset Grill&Bar for giving us the best table that could be given in a place that was wanted at the last minute and making us feel at home again, I would also recommend Lacivert Restaurant to learn to approach its guests professionally. Guests coming from abroad can also experience Uskumru on the Anatolian Side and Sunset Grill&Bar on the European Side. They will be...
Read moreOverpriced placed. They have fascinating view, incredible vibe. You are paying just for that. Valet is 50liras.
When you are paying that much money for the food, you are expecting to have good service and extraordinary food. That never happened.
At first, the waiters felt bothered when we asked them to change money for the valet parking (50liras at the moment), they started asking why and giving the attitude. Btw, when it is a fancy place, it should be included in the bill. The check was more then 1200liras and we still had to pay for the valet?! Normally, when the hostess is taking out the chair for you, they put it closer to you to sit. But on that day, she never done it and left.
When we finished our food, paid the bill, we were still taking our staff to leave, but the waiters started to take the tablecloth right away, not waiting us to leave. That was annoying.
Even though the place felt busy, they brought our order fast. It was decent, nothing special about it. Nice serve though.
To book the first 2 lines of tables, you need to call them few weeks in...
Read moreBeautiful setting, better food, perfect location with a connecting boat to cross the straight if needed. The French colonial type feel upon entering gives it a feel as if you are stepping back in time while sitting under a towering river crossing.
The menu is quite diverse with a notorious amount of fresh fish, however it has other dishes to satisfy everyone's needs that will not disappoint.
Staff here are very attentive, even though the restaurant can get quite full given its span across the water front.
Whether having multiple courses or going for a large main, this dish sizes are adequate enough for anyone.
A good selection of wine, both local and from other noteworthy countries, however with my colleagues we selected something local to go with the dishes.
Desert here is also very delectable to top off a wonderful evening, that basically became perfect as it was supported by the weather, ambiance, and good company.
You might also enjoy the various private boats passing by with multiple groups waving to you while you enjoy...
