이 식당이 저희 부부의 터키 여행 마지막 날을 모두 망쳤습니다. 이 식당 주인의 무례함은 정말 치가 떨립니다. In conclusion, this restaurant ruined the last day of our trip in Turkey. As some people say, we were deceived by Google rating. We are foreigners, not Turkish. It was the last day of our trip in Turkey, and we planned to leave the country by airport bus after having delicious lunch at Karakoi. As soon as we entered the restaurant, the owner of the restaurant said something in fast English. When we didn't understand it well, she recommended six kinds of salads and kombucha next to the counter with an expression "Oh, bother" .. From here we felt a little disrespectful. All of us are not native to English, so there may be difficulties in communication due to different pronunciation and intonation, but we should try to communicate with each other for better communication. (This situation happened even though we don't usually feel big difficulties in English because we work for a foreign company.) My husband felt strange becuase she only recommended salads without mentioning the main menu in the review, went back and asked about the main menu, only then she show the menu. Even though my husband chose one menu, she strongly recommended another menu, saying that the food would be too traditional (?) (As normally do, we came Turkey to experience different culture and food...... at this point, we also felt her stubbornness was a bit strong) We had to have lunch uncomfortable. So far, we are foreigners, so we tried to understand and forget about it. BUT A REALLY SERIOUS SITUATION HAPPENED AT THE END. We tried to pay, but the card didn't work. The card that have worked in other restaurants 100%. But why didn't work only at this restaurant ? She didn't politely ask us whether we have another card or not, but yelled to us "YOUR CARD IS NOT WORKING ! CALL TO THE BANK !" We were so embarrassed and offended. Calmly I gave her 3 more of my cards, and those 3 cards didn't work either. It was so ridiculous because this never happened during the previous six-day trip. My husband asked her how VISA and MASTER didn't work, but she said , "I don't know VISA and MASTER. Don't you have AMERICAN EXPRESS?" and there was no respect in her expression. More than 90% of the world uses VISA and MASTER, and we didn't understand that SHE DON'T KNOW VISA and MASTER, also cannot understand that she only insisted on AMERICAN EXPRESS, and it felt like she was angry at us because she didn't know how to use the machine properly, and EVEN FELT LIKE WE WERE BEGGARS. Much more, we thought "Is it racism ????" We had no choice but to pay the cash we had set aside to buy an airport bus ticket, and when we left the restaurant, we couldn't even say "THANK YOU." Her rudeness shook our head, and my husband was so offended and immediately left Karakoi, saying he didn't even want to look around here. And on that hot day, we had to sweat around looking for ATM machines to draw cash again (the ATMs foreigners can use to draw cash are limited, so we have to look for them one by one) On the last day, I had to head to the airport with a terribly bad mood without doing anything. We couldn't shout and fight together because we are foreigners, and we know so well that we can't be protected than locals in other countries. Her rudeness makes me tremble even now. All the happy memories of the previous six days in Turkey were almost destroyed by this one restaurant on the last day, but we decided not to think so because there was only one rude person and everyone was kind to us. Now that I'm back in Korea, leaving a review of my trip to Turkey, I would never recommend this restaurant to people in my country.... And the card, YES the card worked without any problem at Istanbul airport !!!

Read moreI specifically asked for ONE TURKISH tea for my partner who doesn’t eat in the day. You know the usually free one that they try to give you? Instead, they upgraded my order to some organic tea in a western cup.
I ordered the Turkish chai after ordering a TRY180 plate of four mezzes. We didn’t make a mess, and I ordered enough to cover two pax so I DETESTED it when they upgraded us to the tourist variant and tried to charge us for TWO “organic teas”. Lucky I smelled a rat and returned the second one.
You know what irritates modern tourists? When you con them. If you want to charge a minimum charge per person just make it clear and don’t give me attitude. I would’ve happily ordered more mezze, but I’m not okay with paying for tea leaves that other people get for free.
Food was indeed expensive but that is to...
