I usually don't post negative reviews, or at least try to think before posting them to look at things objectively, but this is the MOST TERRIBLE place I went. And it is a pub, except beer served, I don't have any other expectations. So, I saw that the place had great reviews, and almost all of them mention great, kind host, so in the sea of pubs in Beyoğlu, where I live, I decided to go here and wait for my girlfriend to join. Upon the entrance, one table was free, and I sit there, there were other people in the pub. Pub is small, dark, and smells like alcohol and urine, which I ignored becase it is a pub. Upon sitting, I noticed the owner that is, based on the reviews, "kind and lovely" which was next to me behind a bar. He asked me what do I want, rudely, and I asked him can I check the menu, on what he responded that the menu is outside of the pub, on the door. I don't know what he meant by this remark, but I didn't plan to go out and read the menu (?) so I just turned around and saw a fridge and kindly told him that it is not a problem, I can see beers in the fridge and will choose. I asked for guiness, and upon hearing my order he immediately said "CASH ONLY" without even acknowledging my order. It was obvious he didn't want me there (just to make things clear, İ am a foreigner, I was sober, and literally came to place to spend money and enjoy and not give anybody hard time). Being kind, I just told that I have some cash and credit card, he rudely answered "IT'S YOUR PROBLEM" and I realised there is not even point being there if that is the behaviour of that pub owner that everybody praise. His behaviour and appearance was terrible, some middle-aged alcoholic that obviously doesn't know how to properly treat customers, so he relies on fake bots that are writing these 5 star review. DON'T GO...
Read moreHey, everyone. The owner was very rude. Maybe he drinks too much, I don't know. He aggressively asked for personal information (name, job etc). We gave 300 lire for two ordinary beers, cash only. It was uncomfortable, it doesn't have enough sits. The place seemed atmospheric at first, the music was good. The girl at the bar was polite. Perhaps this is all from the good things. They had expired beer in bottles and my naive friend told the owner about it that other people shouldn't drink it. The owner returned the money to us, although we said that everything was fine and we didn't want money back. We asked if we would pay and order at least 2 shots more so that everyone would feel comfortable and return to him the money, because we like this place. We tried to be polite. He said, it's not enough for you to buy two shots. We said no problem, we can pay extra. And he started just ignoring us. We finished the pretty expensive beer and left this awful place. It is not Irish pub. An absolute disappointment. and I haven't met such * for a long time. He made us feel bad on St. Patrick's Day and the only day in Istanbul. I...
Read moreU2 Istanbul Irish Pub is one of those rare gems where you walk in as a guest and leave feeling like an old friend. From the moment I stepped in, Leo’s warm and genuine welcome made all the difference. He wasn’t just running the pub—he was creating an experience, full of kindness and heartfelt connection.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the perfect spot to relax and enjoy good company. And the Guinness? Absolutely spot-on—rich, fresh, and poured with care. It was the best I’ve had in a long time.
What truly made my visit unforgettable was Leo himself. His passion for what he does and the way he made everyone feel at home brought a special energy to the evening. It’s rare to find someone so genuine and friendly, and it’s what makes U2 Istanbul Irish Pub so unique.
