Desserts yes, everything else please avoid at all cost! Unfortunately our friends said Mado has a terrace upstairs so we went along for dinner. Apparently Turkey has no regulations since we were welcomed by 13/14 year old boys but let’s not get into that.
I never left a restaurant review that wasn’t 5 stars. They will fool you with kind staff on the ground floor and amazing deserts but please stop there - don’t go upstairs and eat anything else. Pasta was horrible and meat balls without any sides looked like they expired. The service took forever, you ask for olive oil and the waiters think it’s salt? Homemade lemonade is a syrup you put in cocktails mixed with tap water.
Don’t get me wrong I didn’t ask for a lemonade to be replaced I just ordered a Coke and the underage boys of course didn’t react to a full glass of lemonade that I left. Maybe it’s my standards the hospitality in the Mediterranean is phenomenal and everyone understands bread, spoon, olive oil or salt even if English is not our Native tongue. Again I bought desserts in gift boxes there and they are so tasty but please avoid İstiklal for food in general we only got it right 1/3 times. The fact the Wi-Fi in istanbul is horrible made it even worse so please do restaurant research before you...
Read moreI shoulf say the food is mediocre and not bad. on the other hand the service is HORRIBLE. I highly recommend people not going there if they need to be treated with respect and good service. I went there tonight with my friend. waited for menu long enough finally we ordered and the poor quality of a smoothie shocked me. so I asked the waiter why the smoothie is not even like what it was showed in the menu and he rudely took my smoothie and said I cancel your order! ! the salad came finally, no fork, no napkin, nothing! I had to call the waiter several times for a basic service. finally I went to the manager and talked about the rude behavior of the personels and he apologized. But the worst thing is that whenever you order something, in the middle of your eating they want to clean the table so you will leave the table for next customer faster although it'snnot even crowded! it's not worth it to ruin your evening by rudeness of...
Read moreThe service on the fifth floor is so disrespectful and bad. People are forced to do their job. I have been waving and calling to order and the workers were discussing between each other who serve the table like they are picking. Also we finished three plates and while waiting for the Kunafa no one came and picked up the empty plates or dirty utensils. Also no one brings the menu if you don't ask. Nobody is smiling or responding to your thanks (if you say thank you in Turkish,English, or Arabic). In all honesty the Syrian women who gave us the Ice cream on the ground floor was smiling and cheerful, but when we had to sit on the fifth floor because there was no table enough for six people except the fifth floor everything had changed.
Food: the Ice cream Balaklava was good and the Sameed cake with ice cream...
