Wannabe Pizza Bar — Restaurant in Konak

I usually don’t really feel too compelled writing any reviews but sometimes you are either so delighted about something that you want to whistle a tune or you feel like someone punched you in the face that it seems necessary to leave a few words. Spoiler alert, - in this case it is the latter.

I usually always liked the Molly Malones Pub in Alsancak. Even though its not directly located at the seaside, its still close enough and its very central as well. The pub itself is cozy, not too big and has pretty much the charm of a real Irish Pub. Also the service staff has always been very kind and courteous.

Nevertheless I haven’t been there for a while as the last time I wanted to have a few pints of Guinness on a Saturday around 16:00 o‘ clock, the pub was surprisingly closed even though Google suggested it would be open.

I found the pub open a few days ago and had 3 pints of Guinness assuming it would be the „normal“ 10 TL more expensive than in Bostanli (as it always has been) only to find out by accident (I wanted to check the menu for a little snack), that the price for one Guinness miraculously increased to a whopping 295 TL (approximately 8,50 EUR) whereas the normal price for a pint of Guinness (at least in all pubs in Bostanli) is „only“ 185 TL (5,20 TL). Yes Iam aware Guinness is imported , the taxes are high and prices have been increasing constantly over the past months and years. But 110 TL difference for the exact same beer is just a little too much and really leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

As much as I liked that pub, this has been the last time for us. Cheers!

Well first of all thank you very much for your answer to my review that I posted 5 months ago but I guess you were just so busy „calculating“ new fantasy prices to rip your customers off even more - because by now everyone in Türkiye (except for tourists for whom this review is intended for) knows, that those inflated prices that not only you but most of business owners nowadays charge have only little to do with inflation anymore but more with greed - but that is another story.

Back to your answer,- yes, it’s definitely a better idea drinking beers on the lawn at Kordon that you can buy from any Bakkal for 60-75 TL (roughly 2 Euro and not 4,5 - 5,5 EUR as you falsely claimed!) for a pint of Efes, Carlsberg or Becks rather than spending 5 times the amount for a Guinness or Kilkenny at your pub (or now even more because as you wrote yourself, prices increased again).

Also, if you had read my initial review carefully, you would have noticed that I complained about the prices that you charged for Guinness and Kilkenny compared to the prices for the same beer in other pubs AT THE SAME TIME! So while you are partially right that prices increased in general (for things like rent, electricity etc.) you still almost charged double the price for the same beer compared to other bars. And that is just a plain rip off and nothing more because all other pubs were and still are facing the exact same problems that you mentioned in your answer yet still offer their imported beers much cheaper than you.

If you expect some Irish cuisine, that's definitely not the place. Wan to eat Buffalo wings? - don't even think about it. You most probably won't get the taste you are expecting. They serve fried chicken wings rolled in cheap spicy ketchup for "buffalo wings". Nothing more. The beer assortment you can well find in almost every pub allover the city of Izmir and in most cases for a much cheaper price. Don't even mention the music. I don't recommend this place to...
