BURSA DÖNER SOFRASI — Restaurant in Osmangazi

We visited it yesterday after Maghrib prayer. The place was not crowded at that time, however as soon we sat, the staff was rushed us to order Iskendar. We took our time as their menu was limited and pricey. One portion iskendar 330 Tl, 1.5 portion iskendar 460 Tl and double the iskendar 550 Tl. Doner kebab 170 Tl and double the doner 280 Tl. So we ordered first 1.5 portions Iskendar and double doner and two ayran ( 25 Tl small ayran). The server took less time to serve the order but he didn’t pour butter on iskendar just like he served other local customers. It was a feeling that they neglected our table as we were foreigners. The portion was not enough for two adults so ordered another double doner. It was drizzling outside and cold so we had to request for turning on heater. Atmosphere: smoking inside is allowed and smell of grill. Service was fast but no welcoming no smile. Food was tasty but doesn’t worth the price as they may treat locals well than foreigners. The highlight of our short visit to Bursa! We skipped the busy places in the bazaar and chose a small nearby neighborhood to eat like the locals. The staff was kind and friendly and we managed to communicate and connect even though they speak little English. Now on to the food: Iskender kebab, the local delicacy. Slowly cooked doner kebab (beef and lamb) in slices, with red sauce and melted butter on top, sides of yogurt, eggplant salad, spicy pepper and pita bread under them. You would think that something like that would be greasy, starchy and come back to haunt you later but that's not the case at all! They have quality ingredients, prepare them to perfection and go easy on the spices which enables you to taste all the distinct flavors and textures. One portion is filling and the price is good (7-8€ per portion - getting a 1.5 portion is even more VFM), they also treated us with their homemade grape juice which was fantastic. If we ever visit Brusa again, we will definitely eat...

Bursa seyahatimiz esnasında Google yorumlarına bakarak gittik ve iskender denedik. Gayet lezzetliydi. Beraberinde servis edilen köz patlıcan da güzeldi. Tereyağı da kesinlikle rahatsız etmedi. Bazı yerlerdeki gibi yedikten sonra karın ağrısı ya da sindirim sorunu yaşatmadı. Yanında tavsiyeleri üzerine içecek olarak kendi yaptıkları üzüm şırasını denedik. Şeker ve ferahlık dengesi güzeldi tavsiye ederim.

Çalışanlar gayet ilgili ve kibar. Siparişler hızlı bir şekilde masanıza geliyor. Üst kattaki salon klimalı ve ferah. Fiyatları da yakınlardaki benzer işletmelere nazaran daha avantajlı. Bursa'da iskender yemek isteyenlere tavsiye ederiz.

Son olarak civarda sokaklar çok dar ve park yeri biraz zor bulunuyor ancak sokakta iki tane ücretli...
