We were staying in one of the hotels near this restuarant and searched Tripadvisor for some good places to eat in Denizli. We looked and this place was rated #6 in all of Denizli and was less than a 10 minute walk away. It was a must try for us.
We called ahead to ask if they were open and if they had all the meats we saw in the pictures. They confirmed that they were open and that they had everything available. We were about to head out when they called back and offered to send us a shuttle/ride to take us to the restuarant, they said that if we did not know how to get there they would send one. We kindly declined and headed out. It was a short 8 minute walk to get there.
Before we even stepped inside and were still on the street, we heard live music from the dining room and a man singing while playing an instrument. When we did step inside the restuarant, we were welcomed by a friendly Turkish woman who seated us in a warm section of the restuarant. There was an interesting brick oven near our table that had a turkish tea kettle on top, and provided us lots of warmth from the windy and cold outdoors.
We were then brought a simple large picture menu and a list of prices for all the meats, drinks, etc, that they had. This provided lots of transparency and I assume is for tourists who want to know the prices of things before ordering. We ordered the shish kebaps (lamb kebabs) and the kuzu pirzola (lamb chops). We were given bread, salad, and ezme as a appetizer before the meal. The bread was soft, salad was fresh, and ezme was tasty.
Our main course then arrived with the plates having our meats, a serving of bulgur, smoked eggplant with olives on top, and some veggies. The veggies, eggplant, and bulgur were all very good. The meats were a good portion for one person and were also quite delicious as well. They arrived hot and super tender. We did add some salt ourselves to the meat and it became magnificent.
We enjoyed our meal and asked for the bill. The lady who was serving us this whole time insisted we have a glass of tea as well before leaving. We accepted and had a short conversation with her. She and her husband run the restuarant as a family business and have been for the past 4 years. They decided to open because they felt they could offer visitors and even locals, a great place to eat. We then paid after enjoying our tea and were pleasantly surpised at how low the bill was. We expected to pay more than we did. We then thanked the woman and left.
