Coastal Cafe & Restaurant: A Mixed Experience with Room for Improvement

Nestled by the seaside, this cafe and restaurant offers a scenic view that is its main allure. While the location is undeniably picturesque, my overall dining experience did not quite live up to expectations.

The food, though decent, did not meet the standards one would anticipate considering the price range. The dishes lacked that standout quality that would justify the premium prices. The menu offered a variety of options but the execution was somewhat lacking, resulting in a 3-star rating for the food quality.

The major area of concern, however, was the service. The staff, though seemingly busy, did not extend the warm welcome one expects when dining out. Listening to and accommodating customer requests seemed to be a secondary concern. A more customer-centric approach and training in hospitality could greatly enhance the dining experience.

Its seaside location, while providing stunning views, also posed some practical challenges. The area was not well-serviced by local taxi companies, making transportation inconvenient. It would be beneficial for the establishment to consider partnering with taxi services to facilitate easier access for their customers.

In conclusion, while the coastal views are captivating, the overall experience left room for improvement. With adjustments in food quality, staff training in customer service, and resolving transportation issues, this cafe and restaurant could truly leverage its beautiful location. Oba was our go to for food, view, atmosphere and polite service even though it was considered expensive. We treated it as a treat when we were in Istanbul. We've been to Oba multiple times last being October 2020, and it was amazing. Meat was very well cooked, seasoned and presented in the best way possible. Seating was very luxurious/comfy mini sofa and great view of the phosphorus.The service was amazing, we had a guy named Ali serve us, he was attentive and very out going with so much to recommend and offer. This time we visited August 2021, the food was below average and just absolutely unacceptable for the price or the reputation this restaurant had. We had a better experience at local small restaurants for more than half the price paid here. The meat was not cooked very well, and the grilled vegetables taste more like it was smoked than grilled. The presentation was atrocious, like it was food you get from a very cheap food stall. We paid around 1000TL for 5 people including a child. The seating was changed on the first floor to separate chairs rather than the previous luxurious, cosy and comfy sofa set up. We ordered fish, which was not presented the way it should be. It was served in little chunks/pieces when it should've been a whole fish. The staff, I have mixed review, some are nice and polite but others, in our case, the barista preparing the drinks, got made at a junior waiter and threw something at him, that barely missed our table, just unacceptable behaviour. İt's 3 for the view. I wouldn't recommend it for the food or the "friendly staff" but the view is amazing.

The place: there are two branches next to each other's, I only tried the one that is closer to the water, but I doubt there is ANY differet between the two except for the view. Honestly, this is the main reason I come to this place, the view is absolutely amazing, some sweets with tea or coffee and enjoy the view (summer nights, outside area is mostly crowded - call and reserve in advance). The food: if You want to eat, this is not the place to be, food is ok, nıthing special and the services is kinda slow and un-organized. İt's normal for the waiter to write your order down and then get it all wrong. I don't smoke so no comment on shisha (nargile). There is a none smoking section inside the cafe, but outside tables smoking is allowed.
