Absolutely butchered my fiancees birthday…
Don’t spend your money here if you’re a foodie or celebrating a special occasion. The views are nice, so if you do go, make it just for a cocktail—and only if you’re not in a hurry.
We arrived on time at 5 PM and were the first guests in the restaurant, yet we still had to wait 20 minutes just to order drinks because the waiter was standing at the bar eating, instead of attending to the only guests in the place.
Eventually, we got our food and drinks fairly quickly, and at first, we tried to stay positive—everyone makes mistakes, right? But at a restaurant of this level and price point, we didn’t expect to see staff ignoring guests in favor of having their own meal. It already felt off.
The food arrived fast, but unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the money. Some of the meze was tasty, but you can easily get better and much cheaper elsewhere. I ordered the beef cheek which was alright, but nothing special and definitely not worth the price.
After finishing our mains, we asked for the dessert menu. We waited more than 15 minutes, and still no one brought it. In fact, we never got a menu at all—my fiancee ended up looking it up online and ordering dessert that way. We almost skipped it altogether because the service was just that bad. Were we invisible? And to make it worse, the restaurant still wasn’t busy.
When we made the booking we told the restaurant we were there for a birthday, however no candle, no greeting, no acknowledgment—nothing. Not saying that a restaurant have to acknowledge this, but still, how do you not try to make things right for clearly unhappy guests?
And finally, our two first cocktails were forgettable and overpriced. The third one, the lavender drink was actually good, but still—850 lira? This is more than what a drink would cost in a competent mixology bar. So still very overpriced
After dessert, we ordered another round of drinks and ended up waiting another 20–25 minutes. Again. We reminded the staff twice about it but got no explanation. In the end we just cancelled it and asked for the bill.
Overall, the service was shockingly bad. A great birthday for my fiancee in Cappadocia that unfortunately got ruined by the dinner....
Read moreThe restaurant had gorgeous views, and very kind and helpful front desk staff, but we found the restaurant to be stuffy, and the restaurant staff to be incredibly rude. They treated us as if we didn’t belong there. I ordered the wine, but the waiter and wait staff only asked my partner to approve, taste, and give opinions on the wine because he was a man. When I ordered my main course, the sea bass, the waiter responded with “wow” and left. The sea bass was dry and flavorless. We did like our appetizers though, stuffed vine leaves and manti, and my partner really enjoyed his lamb very much. When we paid with credit card, it was denied because they only accepted debit cards (or cards with a pin) but not before we were talked rudely to as if we could not afford to pay. We are used to paying with a credit card at this type of restaurant. We may be spoiled for service and food in NYC, but, based on our experience we don’t think this place deserves its...
Read moreWe read some bad reviews but we were so glad our experience was anything but. This was our last meal in Turkey and it was lovely - the restaurant is set in the luxurious Museum Hotel which really pays attention to the little details. More importantly, the food is good. The hummus with pastrami was served warm and it was amazing. We also had shrimps in a great bisque. Mains were good but not mind-blowing, though I was partial to the duck with lavender honey and beetroot paste. We also had the poached pear dessert (a must have) and the baklava (not bad!). Service was attentive and went the extra mile - our server shot so many different angles for a photo we asked him to take! The views from the restaurant are, of course, also stunning. Definitely one of the pricier places in Cappadocia but we didn't mind at all as the prices were comparable to a restaurant...
