When we first entered, the place was well-maintained and very clean. Moreover, despite the heat outside, it was cool inside. Then, a lady entered, whom I believe was the owner of the place. She was on a call through the speakerphone. When she saw us, she didn't pick up the phone to her ear but continued as if we weren't there. Afterwards, she asked us to take her photo. I took two , and she said, 'You should have taken more.' I'm writing this without making any comments. For example, if a guest comes to your house, you wouldn't speak on the phone without asking for permission, or when asking people who came for a meal to take your photo, you might say something polite like 'You young people are better at this' before requesting it. The reason I'm writing this is that every person in life is at least as valuable as you are—in terms of their money, time, and humanity. There's always something to learn at any age. I hope this criticism opens a window for the ladies to provide better service. The meatballs with gravy were as delicious as my mom's. The plates, table, and spoons were all very clean. My thanks to the workers in the kitchen who put in...
Read moreIf you don’t come here I’m not sure what you are travelling for. A completely traditional meal that will warm your soul. Some local dishes you will not see on any other menus and a small view into local life as ladies are preparing lunch for themselves.
Located in a semi-converted home and run by a group of housewives with proceeds going towards university scholarships for women.
Most of the menu is handmade. When we went a few things like the pasta were not available but I could one women just starting to make it so likely just as we went near open and made fresh. We had meatballs and local ravioli , both felt like a home cooked meal and satisfying. Some small mezze (pickle vegetables and red pepper paste with bread) was provided free of charge.
Don’t expect to be waited on hand and foot with white glove service but do expect welcoming smiles. The ladies will be tending to their business and will gladly help you if you just speak up at any time during your meal. To enter there is 2 doors to go through, the second might be closed but they are open and will let you know if so when you enter so...
Read moreA spectacular find! More like dining in someone’s home than a restaurant and for a worthwhile cause - providing employment for local women and helping put young female students through university. Our children loved watching the women expertly rolling and folding manti shapes, which we devoured later. The highlights were içli köfte (most flavoursome we’ve had in Türkiye), stuffed vine leaves (dainty numbers full of flavour over filling, rather than fat over-stuffed varieties that gives this delicacy a bad name), and a miraculous köfte and pasta dish that looked bland on the plate but was also packed with the flavour - the silky short fettucine like pasta was dusted with crushed pumpkin seeds but there was something else sweet snd floral lurking in the background. Such kindness and generosity shown to us throughout. The place was packed by the time we’d finished, and no...
