It was our very first time in Cappadocia, and visiting Barbarian was truly one of the best decisions we made. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant in Cappadocia.

From the very first moment, we were amazed by the atmosphere. This is not just a restaurant – it’s a complete architectural and design project, where every detail has been carefully thought through. You are instantly transported into the epic era of the barbarians. The view of Cappadocia is breathtaking, and every single element – the seating, the tables, even the forks, knives, and glasses – has been designed to perfection.

The service is outstanding: fast, polite, and very attentive. The staff guide you through the menu, give recommendations, and make sure you enjoy every moment.

And of course – the food! The meat was absolutely incredible – tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. We ordered the mixed Barbarian platter served on a hot plate, along with appetizers and baked vegetables with cheese. Everything was so delicious that we ate every bite. The desserts were just as unforgettable: the spanisch cheesecake was pure harmony, and the Turkish coffee was wonderfully rich.

What made the experience even more special was the atmosphere created not only by the staff and managers, but also by a funny and friendly little cat that roams around the restaurant. At the end of our meal, we were even offered a tour of the restaurant, discovering hidden design treasures and architectural details we hadn’t seen before.

This is by far one of the most beautiful and unique restaurants we’ve ever been to. We absolutely recommend visiting Barbarian if you are in Cappadocia. For us, it left unforgettable memories, and we already know that next time – from Kyiv– this will be the very first place...

During our three-day visit to Cappadocia, we were captivated by the unique charm of Barbarian Medieval Tavern, a gem that beckoned us not once but twice. This establishment is not just a dining venue; it's an immersive journey into the past, set within the walls of a meticulously renovated antique barn. The care taken to preserve the original structure of the building, while integrating a fascinating cave tunnel into its design, speaks volumes of the tavern's dedication to authenticity and atmosphere.

The ambiance of the Barbarian Medieval Tavern is nothing short of fantastic. Stepping inside feels like traversing through time, with every corner and candle-lit table setting contributing to a warm, inviting medieval fantasy. This, paired with the tavern's remarkable service, made our visits unforgettable. The staff, attentive and genuinely caring, ensured that we, along with every guest, were treated with exceptional kindness and professionalism.

Equally impressive were the meals, each a testament to the tavern's commitment to quality and culinary excellence. The dishes we savored were impeccable, blending traditional flavors with a touch of culinary innovation, all while maintaining a hearty, medieval feast-like authenticity.

The Barbarian Medieval Tavern is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Cappadocia, not only for its delicious cuisine and stellar service but also for the unique experience it offers. The combination of a rich, historical ambiance with the comfort and care of modern hospitality makes it a standout destination. It’s a place where history, culinary art, and impeccable service converge to create truly...

SUMMARY: Came here for dinner while visiting Cappadocia from NYC. You MUST check this place out for experience and food!! DETAILS: the food is pretty solid (a lot of slow cooked delicious meats). I was recovering from small food poisoning after having a midnight durum in Istanbul 3 days prior; so I wanted to take it easy on my stomach. My eyes were 1000% eyeing their slow cooked beef ribs; but my stomach suggested other menu items (will get to that in a moment). They had “standard” cuts like brisket, sausage, etc., but they have such an extensive menu like rabbit, duck, lamb, quail, etc. a TRUE meat house!! We ordered the brisket sandwich, beef soup, sautéed spinach, mashed potatoes, vegetable casserole, and a few other items. DIP THE SANDWICH IN THE SOUP. The sandwich alone is delicious on their homemade bread with light spicy spread, but the cheat-level hack was dipping it into the soup “birria-taco” style. Thank me later. I don’t want to spoil the “experience” part of the restaurant (downstairs/basement level) but it beats some of the museums I’ve been to. In short, the owner (who is often there) used to live in the same property before converting it to a restaurant and it is a historical property. If nothing else, you HAVE to go here just to check out the experience and learn the history. If the owner is around, kindly ask for a tour (if he doesn’t graciously offer it already). Run, don’t walk to this establishment!!

If you would like to get to Middle Ages, Vikinges or Game of Thrones or even Witcher, I strongly recommend to visit the Barbarian. It placed in authentic cave house which was fully redesigned and has a lot of small details e.g. knifes and folks in Viking style, metallic wine glasses . There are several levels where you could select to sit: in cave, near bar or at the roof in "nest". We were around 5pm and there were a lot of sits to choose. We (4 adults) were very hungry and ordered different dishes with meat. Service was very good and attentive, talk in Russian and English, provide good recommendations. We got drinks in a few minutes and main courses in 20 mins. After the meal, hosts made us a tour, show and answer on our questions. Noted that they love this place and this is their passion and point to proud of :) Ideal combination of thematic decor, delicious food and excellent service. Strongly recommend!
