Izumi Restaurant & Lounge is an absolute gem! From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance struck me — sophisticated lighting, modern décor, and a relaxing vibe that’s perfect whether you’re there for dinner or just drinks.

The service was superb. Our server (credit to Marie / David / Josephine) was attentive without being overbearing, helping us choose from the menu and keeping everything running smoothly.

The food was outstanding — every dish was beautifully presented, packed with flavor, and clearly crafted with care. The fusion of local and international flavors was well balanced, and each bite was a delight. The cocktails were also top-notch — creative, refreshing, and served precisely.

The food was really great and the service was quick. I don’t think we waited that long for our food to arrive. The chicken katsu rolls were absolutely delicious and would greatly recommend. I tried the Pad Thai Shrimp noodles but they only had 5 pieces of shrimp!!! (Yeah I was counting coz I needed to get my money’s worth! I think you’d have to reiterate to the chef that you need enough shrimp in your noodles). Otherwise the food was filling and we definitely had some takeout as well. The restaurant also gets very busy from about 6pm onwards so I guess if you’re trying to avoid a crowd, best to go early enough. I also think that their seating isn’t favourable for a date for 2 since they are in the open so a privacy wouldn’t be guaranteed. I also enjoyed the cocktails. Izumi restaurant & lounge is one of my favourite restaurants in Kampala. An Asian fusion restaurant with beautiful decor in a great location of Kampala.

The food is amazing, beautifully presented with a taste to match, you won’t be disappointed. I’ve eaten so many different types of food on the menu and every time I’ve been blown away. Honestly you can not go wrong, if you are adventurous please go ahead and try anything on the menu.

I really love the style of decor too, some really nice outside seating, nice and chilled. Huge big bar with a very large selection of drinks. Staff are really helpful and friendly very good customer service.
