The Hickory — Restaurant in Kampala

This is an exceptional place to dine and enjoy either with your friends, partners of family. I loved the service and atmosphere sincerely. But the food had some issues. First of all, some people don't know and don't enjoy the sauce smeared on the food. Yeah, it maybe the way it's done but not enjoyable by customers. For instance, the Tuscan pork chops were smeared with Tuscan sauce. I would suggest first asking the customers if they would like the sauce smeared on the order or if they would like it at the side. Then another thing is the content inside the food. Some orders like pork steak have allergens like cheese and yet when you are ordering, they don't tell you that there is cheese inside. So I would suggest the service should first explain what exactly is in each order or even the menus can be updated. Then the service can ask if the customers would like to have there's cooked with or without something. That would be much better. Then the parking. I would suggest expanding the parking so that more cars and people can go in because the parking tends to get full. Then there is also the issue of the location. This place is really nice and exceptional compared to where it's located. It is really hard for people to access this place without the use of Google maps. I would suggest relocation to a busier and more congested area with people because it will help the restaurant or business get more and more money. The Hikory Kampala, set in the heart of Kololo, is where a friend and I stopped for lunch just yesterday. It's secluded, and serene; just what we needed on a hot afternoon. The dinning area, quite large, open and airy is a real balm. The decour is rustic and functional to match the general ambience. The food , grilled tilapia served on a bed of steamed vegetables suited my mood and unusually big hunger. A table for two in a corner bordered by a beautiful live hedge answered to my need for"privacy" in a public place. If you are looking for a quiet, airy, peaceful place with tasty wholesome food, I would highly recommend the Hickory Kampala.The prices offering are normal compared to other establishments of the same class, and all the Covid SOPs are observed.

The service is good enough and the waiters are polite and efficient. The challenge however, is limited parking space. It took quite some waiting in the hot sun to have my car given enough space for me to leave. Thus drenched in sweat, I left chauffing and and puffing, totally spoiling my peaceful mood. Very nice ambiance complemented by nature including vegetation, flowers and a tranquil environment. It is good for lunch, afternoon and evening chill out. Sumptuous music is always playing in the background in a low volume. I would recommend for both solo and group hangout. The menu is abit pricy but fit for the category of people that visit this place (middle income earners). The menu also has a variety of dishes, in my case I chose pork chops and pork ribs, they where well made but I will still compare it to alchemist restaurant which is so far better let me elaborate; the pork @ hickory still has that pungent smell of the live pig so my thinking is that maybe the meat got is from local dealers and so its not marinated well or for enough time.( I have also noticed this when I purchase pork from one supermarket in muyenga then from local pork joints) Otherwise service was exquisite 👌 place is clean and well organized, has a variety of sitting spaces to...
