Opulence, once the reserve of caviar and Champagne, now seems more accurately embodied by a burger stacked so high it could double as a skyscraper. At least, that’s how I felt standing in front of *Black Tap* in Abu Dhabi, considering the mounting tower of melted cheese, crispy onions, and whatever "award-winning" accolade they’ve slapped on the menu. These days, it’s gourmet burgers and cocktails that define indulgence, and what does that say about me? Nothing flattering, I suspect. But in our pursuit of comfort and fun, where once we sought sophistication, there’s a certain unvarnished charm. Cocktails and burgers, though—they’re risky business. Done badly, they’re more "greasy spoon" than gourmet, and yet there’s no hiding behind foie gras and truffle oil. Caviar and Champagne, well, they’re safe bets. But when a burger is done right, as it is at *Black Tap*, it transcends mere comfort food and becomes something worth celebrating. The venue, like the food, toes the line between relaxed and trendy with its graffiti-laden walls and the obligatory flat-screen playing sports. It's the sort of place where you don’t feel guilty ordering a cocktail with lunch or, in my case, four Mojitos deep before realising it’s only Tuesday. I tried one of their so-called "award-winning" burgers. Who gives these awards? I’ve no idea. But judging by my experience, whoever they are, I trust them implicitly. The burger was, simply put, superb. Perfectly seasoned, cooked just right, with a medley of toppings that sang in unison. None of the usual “I’ll just remove this ingredient” nonsense—everything felt as it should. *Mamsha Al Saadiyat* is the sort of place that doesn’t need to try too hard. It’s filled with some of the best international cuisines you can find, from Japanese to Estonian smokehouse (yes, really). *Black Tap* holds its ground amongst such company, not just by virtue of its buzzy atmosphere and Instagrammable shakes, but because it delivers. It’s not just trying to keep up, it’s setting the pace. And that’s where *Black Tap* finds its charm—it’s not overly concerned with being luxurious, yet somehow it still is. A burger joint may not be the new caviar bar, but it’s not far off when the execution is this good. Four Mojitos later, I walked out—if not sophisticated, then very, very happy.

We visited this place some time ago with my family, and oh my! Our expectations were beyond reach!! We totally loved the ambience and the outdoor seating overlooking The Fountain and Ferrari World. It was just amazing and the guy who took our orders did a fantastic job by recommending food according to our style! We ordered a few burgers, 2 milkshakes, 2 drinks and sides. The burgers were amazingggg and had a great unique taste in each one of them. We ordered 2 beef, 2 chicken and one turkey (the turkey one was mine 😋) . The meat was super tender and delicious. Then comes the Mighty Milkshakes. The milkshakes were priced at 60dhs but were totally worth it!!! We ordered the strawberry cheesecake milkshake which was topped with a cheesecake and toppings. It was heavenlyyyyy. And the other one was a chocolate milkshakes topped with brownies and choco chips. Woowww a chocolate lovers haven!! The drinks were really good and helped pushed down the burgers Rounding up, it was a great experience for the whole family and we can’t wait to visit again!

** Great food + Nice ambience (beachfront location) & friendly service! ** Consistently good food - having tried several of their burgers, I can recommend the old fashioned (69AED) and the crispy chicken sandwich (65AED). Burgers are quite big but don’t come with fries. The Idaho fries with skin on (26AED) and the sweet potato fries (28AED) are always freshly fried and not oily - these are large sharing portions so usually 2 are enough for 4 people. I love the milkshakes but I recommend their regular ones (37AED) instead of their fancy ones as the toppings are usually bad (ie. rock-hard brownie or half frozen and overly sweet cheesecake). Service is friendly and prompt and it’s great to sit outside next to the beach - looking forward to going back soon!
