Raclette in Abu Dhabi: a place that promises so much on paperâgreat location, a fun concept (melted cheese! Who doesnât love that?), yet somehow manages to feel like the restaurant version of a failed soufflĂŠ: collapsed and baffling.
The service? Blisteringly fast, but not in a Michelin-starred way. More like theyâre trying to push you out the door before youâve had time to wonder why you came in. One minute, youâre gently placing your starter fork down; the next, the mains arrive with the speed of a Fast & Furious sequel, crashing onto the table before youâve even had a sip of your wine. And speaking of wine, theyâll whip your glasses away the moment youâre not gripping them like theyâre life rafts. At one point, they even cleared my wifeâs plate while I was still eating. Can we all agree thatâs one of the cardinal sins of dining?
Then thereâs the menu. Oh, the menu. A QR code that takes you to what feels like the world's first website from 1996âugly, hard to navigate, and as inspiring as a tax return. Weâre not in a post-apocalyptic pandemic world anymore; can we please have an actual menu? It feels like they cheaped out on paper and ink, which is rather ironic in a place where the cheese alone must cost more than an Emirates flight to Geneva.
The dĂŠcor? Swiss-themed, except itâs like they got confused halfway through and decided to go rainforest. Are we in Zurich or the Amazon? I canât quite tell, and the TVs showing obscure football matches certainly didnât help the ambience. Nothing says "sophisticated Alpine dining" quite like being forced to watch Kazakhstan vs. Moldova.
At the end of the day, unless youâre desperately craving a pile of melted cheeseâlike really craving itâdo yourself a favour and head somewhere else. There are better options nearby, and ones that wonât leave you feeling like youâve just survived some odd dining speedrun.
But hey, at least the...

One of the highlights of my visit was the French onion soup, which was simply divine. The rich and savory broth was perfectly complemented by the melted cheese and crispy bread topping, making for a delightful start to my meal.
For my main course, I tried the chicken cordon bleu and fettuccine with mushrooms and chicken, and I have to say that both dishes were absolutely superb. The chicken cordon bleu was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender, juicy meat inside. The fettuccine with mushrooms and chicken was also a standout, with the homemade pasta providing a wonderful texture that perfectly complemented the rich and flavorful sauce.
Throughout my meal, I was impressed by the kindness and professionalism of the servers. They were always on hand to answer any questions I had and went out of their way to make sure that I had everything I needed. It was clear that they took pride in their work and were dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience.
