Unfortunately they seemed uninterested in providing any level of hospitality, and basic manners were entirely lacking.
From the start, we felt unwelcome, likely because we hadn’t booked a table they suggested the bar seat
As soon as we finished eating, they rushed to clean the table, giving us no time to relax or enjoy the moment. On top of that, they kept reminding us that outside food wasn’t allowed, even though we were only taking photos of a birthday cake for a few moments, not consuming it.
The rude attitude and lack of hospitality completely ruined what should have been a happy celebration.
I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially if you’re hoping for good service or celebrating a special occasion.

Thank you for your response. I’d like to clarify a few points. While it’s true we didn’t have a reservation, when you suggested the bar seat, we asked if there were any other available options. You led us to the corner seating without mentioning it was reserved for 10 pm, which we would have respected had we known.
Regarding the can, we can assure you it wasn’t ours, and the accusation of us hiding a cake is surprising. We wouldn’t bring something like that in secret—if outside food isn’t allowed, it should have been communicated at the entrance. In fact, we respected your policy, which is why I informed your team that she would only blow out the candles, we’d take a few quick photos, and then we promptly put the food back into the bag.
Lastly, we lit our own candle because your staff made us uncomfortable after the misunderstanding with the can.
Additionally, your response to this review is clearly unprofessional. Threatening to pull out CCTV footage to ‘prove’ our behavior? That’s not how you handle customer feedback. You’re the one making false accusations. Instead of being defensive, why not just accept your flaws and strive to do better? I’ve seen other 1-star reviews, not just mine, and your responses to them are similarly defensive and unbelievable.
I hope this feedback helps improve your service because we simply wanted to celebrate and enjoy the evening—not face hostility or...

The speakeasy bar Electric Pawn Shop is a mere few brush strokes away from something truly great - but as we all know, the devil is in the cocktail, which is true in this case as well. If you find the entrance (hint: green neon), you’re welcomed by an industrial underground venue, roused by the small shops in the 1970s Chinatown.
🎷 7/8: Raw concrete, red neon lights, stainless steel - it is indeed a stretch to call this the optimal setting for lengthy cocktail sessions, but it’s done with the type of aesthetic perfection that makes it - well - work. The vinyl records playing add further testament to that fact. On the wishlist is a lighting scheme that will allow for the food and drinks to show their true colors rather than the current red tinge. 🥃 6/8: Intriguing names of the cocktails, all relating to the Far East, and equally tonic ingredients. However, most of the cocktails are served in small, borderline tiny glasses, and it’s unfortunately not always that the complex flavors reach through. 👨🔬 6/8: The team of bartenders knows their signatures by heart, but need to work on their engagement skills early in the night - with only six guests, it should be possible to get more attention than having to ask several times for more cocktails. 🧊 7/8: The ice cubes are big and clear, and the small touches on the ice for the different cocktails are both noticed and appreciated.
Let’s go for the high notes - music (ping DJ Lolo Brigante), food (albeit mostly bar bites, but all the food tested is perfectly on point) and atmosphere (Chinatown has nothing on Dubai these days!) - Electric Pawn Shop is definitely worthy of a visit from anyone on a cocktail odyssey looking for the type of voguish speakeasies that seem to spread throughout Dubai these days.
