Located in Alserkal Avenue next to Akhil Cinema was the small cafe with outdoor seating which would be perfect with the weather getting better.
The place had yellow lighting that gave the place a relaxed atmosphere and went seamlessly with the wooden seating arrangements. It has pink walls with some quotes around which makes it insta-worthy too.
Bite Board
Project Chaiwala Signature [AED 15]: This was something unique, tea with chocolate flavor so it would not suit everyone’s palate but us being chocoholics this was just meant for us. We would have preferred if the tea was a bite more hot since what we drank seemed like it was made and kept for a long time.
Vada Pav [AED 15]: Isn’t it a classic combination, a cup of piping hot tea and the famous street food that go so well together, and with the weather turning out to be cooler, people would start craving for this duo. Our suggestion would be a cup of karak and a vada pav along with some good company and your day would go great.
Sweet Potato Masala Fries [AED 15]: We are not huge fans of sweet potato fries but the seasoning and crisp slices of these fries got us hooked, something we enjoyed after a long time.
The Desi Smashmosa [AED 20]: All the samosa fans stay alert, we got something that would interest you all. Instead of the regular triangle shaped pastry, the same flavors are mashed into an amazing mix. This was a blend of sweet potato, carrots, some chickpeas, topped with, pomegranate molars, mint chutney and bhujia.
Chili Cheese Toast [AED 20]: Crisp sandwich with melted cheese still got us drooling just thinking about it, stuffed with veggies. We definitely recommend trying it out.
Beef Brisket Wrap [AED 40]: Toasted wrap with slices of juicy beef brisket, some pickles, mayo and bbq sauce. We felt the wrap to be a bit dry, so we would suggest to increase the portion of the mayo to make it better but loved the flavors otherwise.
Service: Our server did a great job of hosting us.
Cash Outflow: The prices are slightly on the higher end, but if the split and spend policy is applied you will not...
Read moreI've never been fond of world-famous brew until I came across the tea sorcery that is Project Chaiwala. Their cold 'Signature' chai which I loved, will keep you guessing about what its delicious taste comprises of. The "Masala' chai is a little more conventional but packs a nice spice punch nevertheless.
The food on Project Chaiwala menu is Indian street food fusion that goes really well with a chai. Start off with the crispy fried Okra sprinkled with an addictive masala. Crunchy and totally moreish is the best I can describe it. The star dish was the Keema Paratha which was oscillating between being a desi pizza and a posh paratha. The textures and its juicy minced meat were a delightful surprise. Another must-try is the Smashmosa which is a...smashed samosa piled up with beetroot and sweet potato with a drizzle of punchy and full flavored tamarind and yogurt sauces. Fabulous snack. I ended the meal with an unusual but scrumptious carrot and chai cake. Sounds strange but you've got to try it with a masala chai to treat your taste buds to some awesomeness.
I went to the Time Out Market branch and had such a great time. I'm heading back there very soon. Don't forget to ring the bell on the counter for an extra special...
Read moreThis project is one for the books an actual home grown success story of local entrepreneurs who followed their dream by believing in themselves. Two passionate people one an Emirati and the other an Indian, both followed their vision and what we have now as 'Project Chaiwala' is purely a labour of love.
Located in the art centre in Dubai, Al Serkal Avenue is an ideal place to start something such as this. Midst of warehouse which has now been converted to hold art houses and creative minds PCW holds his corner well. Its on the walk ways to the Cinema Akil is where PCW is. Simple but sharp decorations donning the wall, perfectly selected wall posters add color and goes with the cinematic theme too. I ordered the karak chai, vada pav, smashmosa and their beef brisket. Loved the vada pav, perfect spice, smashmosa was good too. This was tender slices of beef, mashed with samosa topped with onions and greens. The beef brisket was another good one, for a place such as this, where the main star is Chai, they got a good thing going with the beef brisket. Priced at AED 40, you get two decent sized wraps, actually two can have and a couple of Tea your afternoon food...
