Went to dine in at Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, the finest Indian restaurant in Dubai. Itโ€™s located in TheCanvas Hotel. As we all know that, Sanjeev Kapoor is not just a name .... itโ€™s a brand in itself .... an Indian celebrity chef, who bought the revolution in the field of cooking. It was really a privilege to be there.

The ambience of the restaurant is done all four elements of Nature.... earth, water, fire & air. A truly Indian feel with awater body at the entrance... Buddha ... sculptures..... decors. There is plenty of seating indoors as well as a very pretty outdoor seatings as well.

The staff is very friendly & Mr. Anil was there to explains us about the food really well. Chef Praveen was there to guide us about the signature food & the techniques used.

Coming to the food we had there. We were served the special menu which Chef Praveen had chosen for us.

We started with Pre starters Papad & chutney Tiranga fruit spheres... the three color fruit spheres denoting our Indian flag ... was delicious

Followed by the drinks ... Ginger Smash.... with a very strong flavor of ginger... this drink was really refreshing Charcoal Colada ... I tried pinacolada with charcoal for the very first time .... it was amazing

From the starters, they served us the Signature special starters platter ... with Burra chops with mint & coriander balm.... one of the finest lamb chops we ever had ... with just perfect spices & perfectly cooked Chicken Alaska....grilled boneless chicken Masala chaanch rubiyan with chaas spheres... the chaas will burst its tastes in our mouth ๐Ÿ˜ Mitochondrion potato with tamarind falooda...... charcoal roast jacket potato, stuffed with Punjabi aloo matar & fresh pomegranate seeds .... simply amazing

Then they served us the scrumptious Lemon sorbet with olive dust .... to settle out taste buds ..

Among their wide range of main course theyโ€™re choose the best to serve us that day .... they served us Red velvet butter chicken.... with the butterly curry .. it was my favorite Avadhi Gosht .... more like the famous Korma .. seriously .. I havenโ€™t tasted such delicious korma here in UAE ... it was finger licking delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ Cottage cheese pinwheel with mint & red pepper.... the stuffed paneer was super yummy... Makhani lalla musa dal..... ohh my ... this Dal makhani was out of the world ... cooked with the authentic techniques .. it was really a must must try ... Veg. Pulao... flavorsome rice Pulao They served us the assorted Indian breads to accompany these delicious curries & dal

Now comes the desserts part ... they served us Signature Pistachio falooda Kulfi..... the best pista Kulfi Charcoal Rasmalai snow..... try this different Rasmalai ... yes ... they serve it black .. & also with some snow .. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ jokes apart.. it was a treat for eyes & was equally delicious.

To sum it all .... no matter how many new restaurants with all new technologies are coming up.... Old is always Gold .... same way .. Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor is a highly recommendable place for all the foodies ..

Sanjeev Kapoor should stick to what he knows best - not experiment with onam sadhyas. I made a big mistake of booking an onam sadhya for my parents 50th wedding anniversery. It was an mockery and embarassment of an onam sadya.

  1. Sabudana vada and keerai vada was not cooked fully. The uncooked batter was clearly visible
  2. bananas were not ripe
  3. eliseri ( pumpkin) was just smashed pumpkin - not an onam sadya taste
  4. coconut rice with sambar and paruppu ( lentils) is not traditional way of serving onam sadya
  5. carrot pachadi was served from the fridge and super cold
  6. positioning of items in the sadhya was not correct - example - banana chips should not be placed in the center of the leaf - your waitresses have no clue of what they are doing, what to place where in the leaf, set aside properly pronouce the names of dishes, albeit they tried their best)
  7. malabar paratha and kadala curry is usually not served in a traditional onam sadhya
  8. avial was the worst i tasted - just drum sticks - strings of drum sticks almost choked !!!
  9. sweet dish (pradhaman ) was served cold with coconut toppings - not traditional
  10. payasam was overfilled with rice
  11. paruppu podi is not served in a traditional onam sadhya

Instead of using a malayali chef who knows what he is doing, sanjeev kapoor employed a sardarji as a cook for the onam sadhya.

I had a team meeting with the chef and manager and they admitted their callousness in preparing an unpalatable onam sadhya. They were very courteous. I was not charged for the meal. Nevertheless, i came with high expectations to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary.

For all those vloggers in instagram who promoted this merely for views, you have no clue of what a real onam sadhya (typically priced around 30 aed in any karama restuarant) is.

Sanjeev - stop being a showman and just do what you do best. Next year, if you decide to venture into a pro business veg sadhya priced at 129 aed, atleast do your homework, understand what an onam sadhya really is and employ a proper trained...

Youโ€™ll just have to decide where to start, and who to share with. Hungry yet? Kutran Chaat Aminabadi What a perfect taste and beautiful presentation. Crispy potatoes layered with variety of chutneys creating a flavorful treat. A must try for a street food lover.

Tandoori chicken

I was confused should i touch the plate and have a bite or just keep admiring the presentation literally served as a canvas painting. A fusion of colors and mouthwatering taste made you taste the best tandoori chicken ever.

Mutton Galouti Kebab

My all time favorite soft and succulent melt in mouth kebab will leave you an awe served with small cute mini saffron flavored tikki paratha. ๐Ÿซ“

Awadhi Murgh Biryani

A big biryani fan and this one was amazing served in a clay pot perfectly cooked accompanied with burani raita. A mouthwatering treat.

Mutton Rogan Josh.

Melt in mouth mutton cooked to perfection and the bright color curry will appeal your eyes and you will dig in it and will taste the flavorful fusion perfectly paired with soft fresh bread.

Overall Experience.

The menu is filled with signature dishes, desserts and drinks (Alcohollic and Non Alcoholic) where everyone gets variety. This is surely the ideal place to enjoy your time with friends and family while grabbing the most delicious bites. From service to ambiance, taste to presentation everything is top notch. . Amuse-bouche was Mini Bajra Tartlets, an earthy millet base with a smoky aubergine mash, finished with garlic curd. Non-veg indulgence was a true royal affair โ€“ from Bhujiya-Crusted Macchi Jasamandi with tangy mango aioli to juicy Banjara Murg Skewers, rich Jaisalmer Spiced Lamb Chops. Fiery Mathania Chilli Prawn Curry and the show-stopping Laal Maas Tagine (Must-Try) served with saffron millet couscous perfect with Jodhpuri Pulao and fresh breads. They have veg option too - Jodhpur Lasooni Mushroom, Dahi ke Sooley, Paneer Papad Roll, Vegetarian mains like Laal Mirch Stuffed Dum Aloo, Papad Curry with Polenta, and Gatta Gnocchi Curry. No Rajasthani feast is complete without Dal Baati Churma and here itโ€™s served with silky Panchmel dal, sweet rose churma soil, and ghee โ€“ absolutely soul-satisfying. I recently tried their Rajasthan food festival and if you love Rajasthani food or simply want to experience the grandeur of Indian royal cuisine, Don't miss! Small plates but big on flavour and heritage - creative yet authentic fusion of Rajasthani tradition with global flair. Amuse-bouche was Mini Bajra Tartlets, an earthy millet base with a smoky aubergine mash, finished with garlic curd. Non-veg indulgence was a true royal affair โ€“ from Bhujiya-Crusted Macchi Jasamandi with tangy mango aioli to juicy Banjara Murg Skewers, rich Jaisalmer Spiced Lamb Chops. Fiery Mathania Chilli Prawn Curry and the show-stopping Laal Maas Tagine (Must-Try) served with saffron millet couscous perfect with Jodhpuri Pulao and fresh breads. They have veg option too - Jodhpur Lasooni Mushroom, Dahi ke Sooley, Paneer Papad Roll, Vegetarian mains like Laal Mirch Stuffed Dum Aloo, Papad Curry with Polenta, and Gatta Gnocchi Curry. No Rajasthani feast is complete without Dal Baati Churma and here itโ€™s served with silky Panchmel dal, sweet rose churma soil, and ghee โ€“ absolutely soul-satisfying. Dessert was a royal send-off โ€“ Ghevar Cheesecake with Kulfi and Thandai were both nostalgic and innovative, marrying classic ghevar with creamy mascarpone and pistachio dust.
