Sadly enough we did not have a great experience.
For Mother's Day we thought we come to Tania's Teahouse to celebrate in its cute athmosphere. To be safe I decided to call ahead to make sure that it is a) open and b) has space. The first two calls got pushed away, the third call was successful. I got advised that they are open and that they close at 5pm. I mentioned that we will be over that afternoon even we had hoped that they would be open longer.
When we arrived we walked in and got advised that upstairs is closed for a private party (Why would you not inform us about a private party when I called?!?!?). All attention was on the party upstairs. Staff was up and down those stairs continuesly.
We got advised that we could sit anywhere downstairs and that was the last time we got any attention.
With nobody coming to the table I walked up to the counter to find out what was covered by the Entertainer. I got advised that everything on the first page was included in the Entertainer offer and she showed me the sections on the menu (tablet). I asked if I could take the tablet and she gave it to me so we could see what we would like to order.
Nobody came to the table to take our order so we went to the counter to order.
Food took a while before it arrived at the table. We ordered two French Toasts for the kids which were soggy. What a shock, not even the kids would not eat them. Acai Bowl was okay for soupy. The Meat Wrap was great. The Egg Breakfast was underwelming. The Sliders were good but the fries that cane with it were sparse.
Nobody checked on us to see if the food was okay. To be honest nobody checked on us during our stay.... period!
To keep the streek going we had to walk to the counter to pay. Then the SHOCKER... Only one Entertainer voucher (1 food & 1 drink) per table!!!! We were a family of 6, we advised that we would use the Entertainer..... so you KNEW we planned on using the Entertainer and you opted to not advise us of your special rules!!! The Entertainer rules state that 6 people can use 3 vouchers, which we had intended to do. Oh, SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!
We voiced our frustration and asked for a manager. The lady apologized, took my number and advised that she would reach out to me. I decided to see what would happen before giving a review. It has been five days without a word from her so here we go.
On the way out a lady that had been sitting at one of the tables got up and introduced herself as Tania. She apologized for what happened and sent us on our way.
When we got in the car she and the other lady ran after us to give us two small bottles of lemonade to take with us.
We live in the neighborhood and could walk to Tania's Teahouse. It is such a cute place but not being treated as a valued guest does not make it worth it.
Truly hoped that they would reach out to us but to keep the streek of no attention going...

It was quite a hassle to book the habib-tea private room for a baby shower on a Saturday morning. It was a strict 3-hour booking. The setting up time was included in those 3 hours (which already wasted the first 30 minutes for us to set up).
The food came in fast but was not good. I honestly would not crave it again. The only nice thing about the place was that it has light colors to suit a baby shower.
By the time our 3 hours were almost done, the waitress came in 20 minutes before to ‘remind us’ and then again 5 minutes before our time ended with the bill. They were in a rush and we felt forced to leave. The second our time ended, 3-4 waiters barged in and started cleaning up the place and rearranging the room while we were still sitting.
There was another booking right after us that had the hour to set up before their private event. We politely understood and left the private room and moved to an empty table outside the private room to finish our conversation. We anticipated to stay another 10-15 minutes only and this was communicated to the waitress. But during that time, a waiter asked us to move as they require the table and some chairs when there was an empty set next to us. A few minutes later they requested us to leave again as there were other guests waiting to be seated. We asked for 5 more minutes but their reaction was unsatisfying.
We understand that it gets busy on weekends but rushing us was very disrespectful. It is common for people to chill at a cafe for hours without being asked to leave (even after paying the bill). Tania’s Teahouse should consider these scenarios. Especially since we had booked the private room and paid extra for it. For example: The manager would pull me aside to speak privately that the room is needed for another event, rather than announce it to everyone in the room. Offer a table in the public cafe area if we wish to stay longer. (this method is very common in many cafes/restaurants). Only start cleaning/rearranging the private room after we have left the room. (Usually waiters have a technique to cleaning up without the guest noticing).
Overall we are very disappointed and expected a better apology and some kind of compensation for this...
Read moreIt really saddens me to write the following but we had an extremely bad experience with our visit on the 6/07/20.
One of your staff members was extremely rude and patronizing to my two girls who went to have lunch (ages 22 and 19).
Firstly, whilst they were eating she abruptly comes and rudely picks up the cutlery without asking.
Secondly, my daughter was still drinking her water; she took the 3/4 filled bottle away from the table; again abruptly. After she took the bottle she then had the audacity to patronise them by saying “ yes you are right it’s my mistake I have told you already “ she held the bottle in my daughters face and said “ my mistake” feel free to check on cameras.
Thirdly, there was an insect in the brownie.
Furthermore, she mistakenly brought up two infused water instead of one, rather then admitting her mistake, she comes up so rudely “did you at least explain it to her properly”. This kind of attitude is totally unacceptable. Wanted a peaceful lunch. She kept telling my daughter she came to apologize but instead she was being very patronizing.
Overall the service was very bad, the server was very very rude and condensing. After my daughters spoke to the assistant manger, she handled everything so well and took everything on board like one should. They only came to have a peaceful lunch but instead it was a disaster. Kindness is very important from all.
I will not mention the servers name on here but feel free to call me. On a positive note, the assistant manger is great and the male server was excellent.
This is not the first time this particular server has given us attitude but we let the first incident go.
I hope you can speak to this particular member of staff and educate them.
A peaceful experience shouldn’t...
