The Monk Indo Chinese Restaurant - Dubai Silicon Oasis — Restaurant in Dubai

Went with a local colleague. Order the seafood pad thai..came as chicken pad thai...waiter when ask insist it was chicken pad thai and then say seafood when we say we order seafood. Manager taking the order did not care that the order was wrong!!! Pad Thai is localised version and missing the essential peanut and bean sprouts!!. The taste to real Pad Thai only 30% right. As usual estab like these wannabe so call Asian joints cook a mean Hakka noodle although this is the Indian version and nowhere near the authentic Hakka noodle. Lamb was good but again missed the mark as Chinese grill but hit the mark as Western BBQ. You will not stop there for real Chinese food but anyone wanting to try localised tasty pseudo versions will love it here. Just make sure you see your order written down correctly and take a photo before they do a denial. Dim sum skins are just wrong wrong wrong. Taste is indeed good...heavy on the msg..but dont expect real Chinese...you might be teaching the cooks where...

We were in the mood for some Chinese dishes so went to The Monk. Me and a friend were craving for some Pecking Duck and we are looking for a good one.

So here’s what we ordered and their rating:

Pad Thai: 5⭐️ unlike any other Pad Thai in Dubai this is not too sour.

Tempura Prawns: 5 ⭐️ we love the breading plus the freshness of the Prawn.

Pecking Duck: 5⭐️ this is fab guys! Make sure to order this whenever you visit any of their Branches.

Mixed Steam Dim-sum: 5⭐️ they serve this with Chicken, Prawn & Vegetable dim-sum.

Seafood with Mushroom & Bamboo Shoots: 5⭐️ the sauce is the key! Yummm!

Anjan, the restaurant supervisor was a star! He is very accommodating, over all they have a great team! Congratulations on that guys!

We highly recommend this place to all you Chinese food lovers out there! They have 3 branches near you.

Just had a restaurant pamphlet at my doorstep yesterday…picked it up and some restaurant called as Monk in karama having 2 other branches. So I thought that why not order from this place and check if it Is good or not. So from the menu I just picked up one dish – Kung pao chicken and placed an order for home delivery. The order came on time and the quantity was good enough for 2 people. Now coming to the food, the chicken was tender and well cooked. The kung pao chicken tasted very good and we could find cashew nuts and dried chillies – just how it was mentioned in the menu.

Sometimes restaurants put too much color in food, well I did find that they had put some color, which is something I don’t prefer. The chicken wasn’t very oily and it was very delicious. So now that Monk has passed the test, I will visit it soon and check the ambience and décor and gorge up on some more...
