Hi folks family friends followers of my reviews Barry here reviewing another lovely place I found I was in Aberdeen yesterday for the parade and walking down to the bus station I saw Suma cafe with it's bright lively sign I was hungry so I popped in I'm glad I did! Upon entering I was given a lovely welcome by Nicole and the boss Pakistani born khan and shown to a table I looked around a bright spacious nicely decorated place met my eyes lots of space lots of tables it was the brunch menu so after perusing what was on offer I opted for the eggs Benedict on sourdough bread great I also chose the black magic latte which is made with charcoal id never had one and was intrigued the vibes were nice Nicole my server was most friendly and then came my food freshly prepared the eggs Benedict were just excellent perfectly cooked egg nice and runny with a delicious sauce and the sour dough was too quality as well full of flavour fresh so tasty I also had beef sausages on the side which were lovely great cooking I thoroughly enjoyed it and reasonably priced to my latte when it arrived I thought oh this looks odd as because it's made with charcoal its very dark in colour but the taste was fantastic you could really taste the charcoal and it was full of flavour and it has a lot of health benefits great stuff so I enjoyed it all in all a lovely place with great staff great vibes and great food ill be going back to sample the evening menu so if your in Aberdeen pop by for a lovely meal thanks...
Read moreWent here recently on a visit to see family in Aberdeen. The place is nice inside, and would definitely appeal to a younger audience for the socials.
I only had a chai latte, which was nice. My sister had chicken goujons which I did try and they were very nice. My mum had a toasted sandwich of some kind. The filling was lacking in amount, and the bread was just your average bread from the supermarket. This was served with a cappuccino, which was unfortunately also lacking a nice bean. Switch up your coffee.
They serve in lovely loose leaf borite tea pots, unfortunately they just chuck a teabag where the loose leaf tea should be. No idea why, thereâs so many lovely loose leaf tea suppliers. (Shibui in Edinburgh) Even a supermarket one would be better than a bag. It was weak tea, and because they put it where the loose stuff should be, it restricts the movement of the bag which results in the weak tea.
The music choice is also very poor, itâs a local radio station playing a random mish mash of naughties songs. It was loud, kills the atmosphere I and really doesnât fit in with the aesthetic of the shop. It actually made us want to leave. Hence the 1 star for atmosphere.
Iâve given it 4 stars as it seem to be less than a year old. Hopefully still trying to find its feet. If they read the reviews, If you take anything from this: better bread, better tea,...
Read moreMe and my partner like Sumas, we tend to go on special occasions or when we have a little extra money and want a treat. That being said, about a month ago, I booked a table for my partners birthday, just for a relaxed sit down meal and some drinks. However, when we arrived on the day we found that the restaurant had been booked out by a hen party? We were confused as to why we were able to book a table in the first place, as majority of the tables were already in use and the women were clearly not expecting anyone else to be there either, even the staff seemed a little surprised to see us despite booking weeks in advance, and we were told we could sit in the corner. The whole thing was extremely awkward and we felt like party crashers sitting there, even though that wasnt the case. We ended up not staying, as the party was in full swing, the music was blasting and the staff were clearly preoccupied with the hen party (which we do not blame them for, there was a lot going on). It was a little disappointing as it was a Saturday and nowhere else could take us last minute, and we had to go home. What was supposed to be a nice celebration for my partner was more or less ruined by a double booking. I dont understand why we were allowed to book in the first place if there was a private event already taking place, and honestly it kinda soured our view...
