We went for brunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. Despite being the first customers at 1pm, they barely found seats for us and told us almost everything is already booked. Our order was taken after most other booked-in customers' and after the scheduled deliveries were fulfilled, so we waited for over an hour to get our food.
Even though there was a lot of staff working, the place still seemed short staffed at this point. Perhaps it was busier than usual due to the Aberdeen Restaurant Week going on. Nevertheless, the person taking our order was very patient, polite, and knowledgeable.
The menu was varied enough and we didn't spend too much time on it. The food was delicious and fresh, and very filling. We had two BBQ Bangers, and some fries and frickles as sides. We got two san pelegrinos cans, not sure they had anything available on tap.
The fries were probably the best ones I've ever had, cooked and seasoned to perfection. Frickles were greasy, but still delicious, definitely worth a try. The Bangers were outstanding! I was very hungry when I got there, but by the end I couldn't finish the food, which almost never happens to me. The staff gave us a takeaway box to take the leftovers home, so we didn't end up wasting it. Once they got on top of the pre-orders, the staff availability got much better and we got to pay the bill and ask for the box without having to wait at all.
All in all a good experience, we would definitely visit again (maybe during a quieter week day this...
Read moreUsed to visit regularly before COVID and never had a bad meal or issue. Loved the selection and food, atmosphere was great only lacking a sorce of alcohol pre-covid.
Post COVID I visited again and was surprised to see they had expanded. Surely a good thing, however this brought about more issues than expected. Food menu had been changed, for both better and worse, more selection of burgers and fries however chicken schnitzel, their best item on the menu, had disappeared. I found it more "status quo" and akin to other locations doing regular burgers instead of interesting food items. Items like the Currywurst were also missing.
I ordered a boar-b-q hotdog and received that very item but it was incredibly mediocre. It took around 25 minutes to arrive too with the overly friendly staff pressing me for drinks and pressing my friend for a food order when we clearly stated he wasn't ordering food. Having someone awkwardly stand around upstairs is unnerving while you try and chat with your friends or eat.
I feel Pigs Wings has lost some of its charm it used to carry, now becoming a place I can see 8 more times walking around Aberdeen, as apposed to the unique and fun location it used to be, feels as if they almost "sold-out".
I'm going to look for other locations to try and capture that old feeling and not visit Pigs Wings unless its...
Read moreThere was an error with the bookings which meant we would only have our table for 1 hour and 15 mins. I did book the table same day online so these things can happen especially at this time of year. They were very busy. The staff did apologise and we got to choose a cocktail each on the house. The table at the window downstairs then opened up after we sat down so we were able to move there so that we did not have to rush. The atmosphere upstairs looked lovely but unfortunately it was very cold at the window seats downstairs with the door constantly opening and closing with people coming in and out. The food came in good time and was very tasty. There was a slight error with missing bacon from the burger but this was rectified quickly. Understandable as my partner did ask to remove a lot from the burger order. The staff were very apologetic and we were given a gift voucher for the next time we visit. Cannot fault the service we received, the cocktails were delicious and the food was good. Unfortunate first time visit experience but it was handled well and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We will definitely...
