Nice people, terrible service. Our waiter brought out each dish and announced it by it's number from the menu; we don't work here mate so perhaps tell us what each dish is. I ordered the vegetable Pad Thai, I was brought out the chicken version. An understandable mistake but after the waiter took it back to the kitchen he then came back three minutes later with my "vegetarian" meal, which is a suspiciously short amount of time, and served me a Pad Thai that was again full of chicken. Luckily I didn't eat it before realising as the waiter clearly didn't have a clue what he was doing so I had another one of our group try it first to confirm. I ended up not eating while he rest of our group ate. Apparently the food was good, no massive praise or complaints from anyone.
The woman I imagine to be the manager was really nice and took some money off the bill but the birthday meal was basically ruined by this. I also don't have anything personally against the waiter, but he's clearly not well suited to this task so someone in the chain of employment has messed up there.
Drinks were ok, nothing worth visiting for. Not expensive but not particularly competitive either. Considering the many choices around Shoreham I can't think of a...
Read moreThere is a picture below of a roast from 2 years ago. Unfortunately that doesn’t resemble what was served to us today. I didn’t take a photo but it was a very sorry plate of food. Both is us had one quarter of a carrot each, one sprout of broccoli, no swede. My beef was literally a few wafer thin slices. When we went to get a desert because we were still hungry we were told the kitchen was closed but they managed to scrape together two brownies and ice cream.
The service was just as tragic. From the moment we entered it was as if we were serving them, a real struggle to manage a warm welcome. My father has ran two pubs in his life and always did his utmost to make people feel welcome and this pub only had around 10 people so it wasn’t as if they were rushed off their feet. Even worse, never were we asked if we enjoyed our meal. How you can’t do that is beyond me or is it that you are aware of the below average roasts you are offering.
It was so disappointing considering this is, on the face of it, a proper traditional pub. Of which I have given an extra star, otherwise I would have...
Read moreIts a small quite un-welcoming locals only type of place. I was here for dinner with friends. The starters were very much of the frozen from iceland variety, spring rolls looked like they had a quick re-heat out of a packet from frozen, they were just like the ones chinese restaurants serve at the cheaper all you can eat buffet type places, sesame prawn toast, out of a packet. When they arrived I was surprised as I had read other reviews about how authentic this place is, I was expecting them to be home made, maybe a different chef was on tonight. My main was Chicken Pad Thai a stir fried noodle dish. In Thailand it is a quick stir fry served normally with chilli flakes, peanuts, bean sprouts and fresh lime on the side. Lets just say what turned up wasn't what I would class as a Pad Thai. You have to be careful to not overcook noodles or you get a stodgy mess, this is exactly what I got. I did get some peanuts chucked over it, and a weird tasting Pad Thai sauce, very sweet not at all to my taste. Overall not good I have eaten Thai in a lot better places I should have stuck to...
