I feel like Anglesey just has all the best food. We've had the best Indian, best Chinese, best fish and chips, and now the best Mediterranean / Tapas food. The name and building definitely do not give the impression that they sell tapas, and inside it is decorated more like a modern pub so unless you read the menu beforehand like we did, you wouldn't know what to expect. They were fully booked when we arrived (luckily we had also booked a table) which was already a good sign. Had to wait a couple of minutes for our table to be ready but got brought through to the lovely atmospheric dining area to be seated.
As you can expect from somewhere selling Mediterranean food, they had Estrella on tap along with other good brands. Big selection of spirits, wines, and other alcohols. We ordered drinks which were quickly brought out. The restaurant must still be adhering to some COVID guidelines as we weren't given individual menus. Instead, each table was presented with a chalkboard with the menu written on. As well as this, not all tables were filled so they must have been staggering the bookings to ensure there weren't too many people in at one time.
For the 4 of us, we ordered one hanging kebab skewer (lamb) and the other 3 ordered 3 tapas plates each. We had 2x king prawns, 2x beef cheek (which I believe was a 'special'), 2x calamari, 1 chorizo, 1 patatas bravas, and 1 chicken wings. Now when I say this is some of the best food we've ever eaten, I mean it. Every mouthful was incredible.
The beef cheek was so incredibly tender, the king prawns were massive and full of flavour, and the calamari was not rubbery in the slightest (something I find you get quite often at restaurants if it's cooked too much). The lamb from the kebab was also so tender and cooked to perfection. The chips are the best kind of chips that are really crispy on the outside then very fluffy in the middle. The coleslaw was also great.
Everything is clearly cooked fresh by very talented kitchen staff. The menu is quite small in terms of options but it just goes to show how they've perfected the items that are on offer. We've been to Benllech about 6-7 times and never thought to try the Beachcomber until this year and we're so mad we never tried it before!! Definitely going to be a place we come to again when we're next in the area. Just for reference, they do request a deposit when booking a table which gets taken off the final bill...
Read moreAbsolutely dumbfounded shocked and disgusted at the treatment my family received at this hole. Upon entering you walk into the bar area where a gentleman in chefs whites was sat having a beer with his friend. The said gentleman passed comment about us which I won’t repeat! It was heard by all four of us which he later denied and called us liars. Turns out he’s actually the owner and was grabbing a beer and slagging his customers off between cooking!! We were seated in the “conservatory” which was not only filthy dirty it still had remnants from the previous diners. Hardly any drinks we’re available because they had “ran out”. We ordered food with a young female called Jodie who was about as interested in us as a dead fly. The starters came out which were ok and nothing special until my wife found a long dark hair in her prawns. We decided we’d had enough and didn’t want our mains so mentioned it to Jodie who gave us a load of attitude. Then came the owners!! What can I say. At this point I just wanted to leave so I PAID THE BILL IN FULL after which they accused us of lying and putting the hair in the food ourselves to get a free meal. WHAT!!! I PAID THE BILL IN FULL why am I trying to get something for free???? The lady owner (chefs wife) then had a full on rant and swore at my 2 children aswell as calling them liars. I’ve never witnessed such an appalling display from a business owner in my life. Being business owners ourselves we treat every customer with the respect they deserve and treat them as if they could be our last ever customer because one day they will be and with the psychotic behaviour displayed here it probably won’t be long. Having spoken to a few of the local people that we know it’s a common occurrence apparently and they are known for there arrogance and bad attitude. Visit here at your peril but whatever you do don’t complain...
Read moreI have to say we booked in for 7:30pm on 31/08/22. We had really been looking forward to our visit but as we arrived the staff didn’t seem to know what was going on so we asked that we had booked in the snug. As it was, the snug had a couple in there eating so we was told we would have to eat in the bar. At this point I couldn’t understand why our table wasn’t ready for us as we had booked but then we was told the table that was available which we saw and still had drinks on it and obviously not ready the couple who had been there had been sick all over the table and we saw the tissues with sick on them where still on the table??? Absolutely disgusted who would actually want to sit at that table and eat food knowing that. The staff where just kids and probably not capable of cleaning properly and we really shouldn’t have been told that. Got to be the worst experience ever in our life. Toilets disgusting radiators rusty definitely wouldn’t recommend. No one took ownership of the situation and would have been nice to be offered a drink while they sorted the unfortunate situation out. In the end we unfortunately walked out as this totally put us off our food. Staff and management obviously not capable of dealing with situations unless...
