We thought we try somewhere we havent been and went here for dinner last night. we booked and arrived at 7.30pm. The place was literally empty apart from us. We sat down for over almost 15 minutes before someone came out from the back and took our order. he was wearing a really dirty shirt.
I had chicken chaat for starter, my partner had salmon tikka. My main was chicken chilli masala, she had a Pasanda. We had vegetable rice and side dishes of Aloo Gobi(potato and caulifour) and saag paneer(spinach puree and fried cubes of paneer cheese)
When the food came, the waiter who had just arrived at the resteraunt was wearing a dirty shirt, tracksuit trousers that were too big and hanging off his arse and flip flops.
The salmon starter was delicious. The chaat was, kind of bland and tasteless. The pasanda was a kind of thick and gloopy MSG sauce that didnt taste like any pasanda Ive ever tasted (partner thought it was from a jar). My chilli masala was nice but... REALLY REALLY oily. The aloo gobi was also swimming in oil, literally spoonfuls of oil we spooned out into another bowl. The saag paneer was spinach leaves with grated cheddar cheese melted on top. The rice was nice. We had irish coffees for afters and the cream was clumpy and just on the point of turning. At £68 I do not think we had £68 worth of meal. During our time there we did not see any takeaways being collected either. I guess there was a reason we were the only people there.
All in all im kind of suprised at the number of stars this place has. I would not recomend it to anyone. Food was very oily, very bland, sauces appear to be out a jar and very gloopy MSG. We wont...
Read moreWent to Simla with 4 friends on a Friday evening. It's an intimate dining room with friendly staff who kept us supplied with drinks. It's probably odd that whilst I enjoyed the poppadoms and pickles the starter (Kebab Roll) and main (Lamb Rogan Josh with mushroom rice) were pretty bland and flavourless, and the curry didn't have much meat evident in it, which is a genuine shame. I wanted to like it, but honestly I wouldn't recommend it to my friends. Sorry, but there are better Indian restaurants...
Read moreOrdered a curry from here tonight for the first time. They delivered it really quickly and it was piping hot. Great fresh taste in all the food and naan bread excellent quality. I braved a chicken phall (or faal, phaal, paal etc. - notoriously known for being the hottest dish) - It was amazing, perfect heat and flavours, Although I'm not so sure my other half would agree after I drank all of our milk!
Anyway, great for deliveries - I have yet...
