We recently had pleasure of dining at THE MENU, a charming Hungarian/Europian restaurant, I must say it was an excellent experience from start to finish. 🤩 This hidden gem in Littlehampton offers a menu that showcases the rich and diverse flavours of Hungary,Romania and the surrounding region. But also local food is on the menu, like fish and chips or beef wellington. The standout of this restaurant is undoubtedly the food, bursting with authentic flavours. The ingredients were fresh and nicely presented. For starter we had "Hungarian Hortobagyi pancake" and White bait, for maincourse Mussels in creamy white wine sauce and slow cooked pork shank. Complementing the delicious food we had Hungarian Palinka shot made from plum, we were advised to drink it just before start eating, that is how they do it in Hungary. Also we had Hungarian soft drink and dry white wine. There is an extensive selection of Europian drinks on the menu. Wheter you prefer a glass of Hungarian wine, beer, palinka or soft drink you can find it. The restaurant atmosphere was warm and inviting, with cozy, quirky lighting that created a relaxing atmosphere. I must mention the friendly and attentive service. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I can't wait to return and explore more of their tempting...
Read moreWe visited here as we were walking past and saw the menu outside and were amazed by it. We were absolutely not disappointed!! We had the calamari and olives to start then chicken curry and seafood pasta as mains. For pudding we had brownie with mint choc chip ice cream and apple crumble and custard.
We are not from the are, we are about an hour away, but we were staying in Littlehampton overnight. We have already decided that we will be coming back just to visit The Menu again!!
The food is exceptional. We were amazed by the freshness of it all. The chicken curry was spicy and so tender. The naan bread was homemade and i would beg on my hands and knees for the recipe! My better half had the seafood pasta and he was in heaven. It had mussels, prawns, calamari and scallops. It was creamy and the serving was so generous.
Neither of us are pudding people but the quality of the food meant we both had to go for it and we are glad we did. The brownie melted in my mouth and my better half says the apple crumble is the best he's ever had.
The service is amazing. It is a lovely, friendly, welcoming place that we will definitely be returning to.
I didn't get pictures of the mains as I was too excited about eating lol.
Thank...

A British restaurant, with Hungarian and Romanian influences.
Wednesday and Thursday are burger night, Friday is fish night! A roast is available every day, not just Sundays!!
We had an appetizer of homemade bread. Then my wife had chilli garlic prawns, followed by breaded Hungarian cheese (like adult Findus Crispy Pancakes - lush!), i had Hungarian stuffed (with chicken stew) pancake, followed by a Hungarian burger (sausage and smoked bacon patty, chopped not minced, with a soft fried egg). Both main courses came with fries, the cheese came with a side salad.
Good sized portions, all cooked to order, EVERYTHING is homemade (apart from the.pasta), plenty of parking behind the business.
With 2 drinks (he gave us the appetiser on the house) =...
