Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Ashfield

This has to be the worst Costa I have been to. When this café opened it as was clean and welcoming as any other Costa, however over the months it has gradually slipped into being an uninviting place to get a coffee. I went in today and there were six glaring problems.

Chairs stacked on tables in corner. It was a saturday afternoon and half of the restaurant was closed with chairs on the tables. This is not inviting and does not look good or welcoming. The half of the café that was open was fairly busy, so no real reason to do this other than the staff can't be bothered to clear the extra four tables in the back area. This area also contains the cafés only sofa, so closing it deprives customers of the most comfortable spot to sit in the café.

No music. Terrible atmosphere, like drinking coffee in a bus station.

Steamed up windows. This Costa has always had steamed up windows. You think by now they'd have sorted out the ventilation so that this wasn't the case.

Damaged floor. Part of the floor has become uneven and rather than fix it the manager of this branch has removed the table that stood where the damaged floor is, put duct tape around the uneven area and stood one of those yellow wet floor notices over the area. It looks awful and has been like this for weeks, if not months.

Mop and bucket leaning against the end of the counter. Looks dirty and unprofessional. Again, lazy staff can't be bothered to put it away after using it.

Door to back room open all the time giving customers an unpleasant view into the back room where the mop, bucket and brush should be kept. Absolutely no reason to do this, unless the staff are literally too lazy to push a door open.

When this café opened the local paper heralded it as the beginning of the regeneration of Sutton town...

Luvly cuppa!... and one of the Costa tasty butter mince pies after a good walk into town. Lovely refreshment drink and food. And a touch of kind hospitality for the days day .

And an exceptionally very nice clean smart inside fresh air clean and good Costa style decor ... excellent ! And tops polite patient service as I waited for my app taking a long time to wake up. I came to Costa in Sutton-in-Ashfield this afternoon around 3:30pm. One lady stood out to me, her name began with a B. I'm hoping you can find out who she is so she can get the recognition she deserves. She was lovely when I was ordering. Chatting to my daughter and letting her pay etc. But when my friends baby knocked her drink all over herself, table, chairs and floor she was so reassuring and made her feel so much better.
