Hucknall Cafe & Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Ashfield

Was looking for a cafe nearby and this cafe came up so looked at the prices online and decided we would go to it as the prices seemed reasonable and after we finished was charged £20 however it should only have come up to £14.90 according to the menu that we was given and saw online but we paid it without question as we do not like to make a fuss. the morning after called up to ask if water is free or not as we both thought they was overcharging us for the drinks as we didn’t have a drink menu and the owner said yes water is free so we went back in and the menu had changed price’s so there was an incorrect menu at the previous table & online so we order the same as last time and a 2 cokes as we now knew they charged us the right amount while we was waiting for the food the 3 ladies in the back were laughing and joking about my phone call so we confronted them, the owner told us we was weird for calling so we decided not worth arguing with someone so left immediately. Hopefully the owner can reflect on her actions today and turn this into a positive by making the prices correct online and take away the old menu’s as well as correct her attitude and not insult...

Hucknalls hidden delight! What a little gem of a cafe this is. Visited today had a small breakfast added black pudding to it and got toast and a mug of tea all for £4.50! Freshly cooked to order as well! A lovely clean establishment pleasantly decorated and condiments plus utensils on the tables, they even have a rack with newspapers up on the wall, I think you’re supposed to read whilst you wait for your breakfast but it arrived so fast I wouldn’t have had time to read the paper! The service is quick and friendly the menu is not overly complicated and the prices are very reasonable. Eating food off of nice plates and drinking tea from pristine mugs makes this eatery as far removed from the greasy spoon cafe as one can get. Well worth seeking out and paying them a visit if you’re in Hucknall. UPDATE Feb 5th the roast dinners are absolutely wonderful, tasty, well presented just like a home cooked meal I doubt there’s any eatery in Hucknall with comparable food on offer with this taste and quality! I had a disappointing experience at this cafe when I asked the staff to swap an item on the menu to accommodate my food allergies. They refused, claiming that it would be too confusing. I found this response to be a bit ridiculous, as people with dietary restrictions should not have to suffer just because the staff find it inconvenient. I ended up cancelling my order and giving my business to a different restaurant that was more accommodating to my needs.

UPDATE: It is simply untrue based on the owners response that we did not mention our food allergies, additionally, had they mentioned that the items could be ordered, indiviudllay, we would have done that but again that was not mentioned, instead, the call taker mentioned that it would be too confusing to swap items around.
