This is an exceptionally well maintained public park but a walk around here is often spoilt by dog walkers unfortunately. And it's not ok to say most dog walkers are responsible because it's accurate to say only a very small minority train there dogs effectively. I'm not just talking about the obvious of leaving dog mess , which incidentally happens fairly regularly , but equally annoying are dogs off the lead which come bounding towards you for a " fuss " . And even start to jump up you in some cases ( in wet weather 😡 ) . Owners need to realise that some people are afraid or even allergic to dogs and it's no use shouting " he won't harm you ! " from 30 yards away . The actual situation of a dog leaping towards some people can be terrifying so think on ! Then we have those ridiculously long leads of several yards in length . WHATS THE POINT OF THOSE !???? the dog may just as well be loose ! . And you can guarantee as you pass them , the dog decides to cross your path at the last minute bringing you to an emergency stop ! And it's then , when the owner decides to think the dog fully understands the English language and says " Sabre ! What on earth are you doing you silly thing ? " And smiles at you like the gentle reprimand has put things right ! , not realising what an idiot they are making themselves look . The worse episode I witnessed this Spring was with no less thanTHREE idiots of retirement age . Take note of the lovely sway of daffodils in the photos of the park . A joy to behold . So imagine how I felt when walking around the cricket pitch earlier this year and upon approaching the three irresponsible, selfish idiots , witnessed all three throw their dogs balls OVER the beautiful flowers for their beloved pets to retrieve!!! And of course the dogs naturally bounded straight through the daffs trampling them enroute . Now you may think that's bad enough but check this out 😡. When the retrieving dogs returned ball in mouth to the owners , all three stopped bang in the middle of the daffs and dropped their ball there . So without any hesitation, the three Muppets walked straight into the flowerbed to pick up the ball . At this point I was level with them . The ensuing outburst by myself cannot be printed here. They stood like sheep completely oblivious to their actions with regard to any wrongdoing ! I told them to look at the crushed flowers where both them and their dogs had trampled . To which one of them said ...... " It's not our fault " . .............🤔.
So yes , it's a stunning park well worthy of 5 stars . Just a shame a nice walk is spoilt by , not dogs ......but...
Read moreBig issue with off lead dogs. People do let their dogs off lead very often, so may find dogs will run up to your dogs, and most have no recall, and some owners don't call them back or come and get them, so just beware, especially if your dog has anxiety or is reactive, training, and/or scared. The park definitely needs a fenced off area for dogs with issues as they deserve enrichment and a walk on the park too
