Muffin Break — Restaurant in Ashford

The chocolate mud cake is amazing (1 piece is enough for 2) and so are the sausage rolls (lovely peppery flavour). The reason my score is lower is not the food but the service I experienced. The staff are friendly but you need to let the customer look at the products before asking them (to efficiently) what they want as it’s off putting and it’s happened each time I’ve gone to look at the food. There also seemed to be 2 people taking orders and a manager in the middle taking payments. My main issue was that I asked for 2 slices of cake and then asked for a box as the lady was going to place these in a paper bag which means they would get crushed (she looked confused and then the manager seemed annoyed but surely as I’m paying 13 I would like the food in one piece?). Luckily I managed to get her to remove the sausage rolls I ordered out of the warmer as they where take away but she was going to cook them anyway. We were strolling across County Square when we came across Muffin Break again. Never been inside before but what attracted us was when we noticed that the shop is HALAL. We went inside and confirmed with the staff who said that all meat are halal. They have loads of sandwiches, cakes, cookies as well as coffee. We were delighted with the environment, service, food as well as the ambience that the shop boasts. This is a definite place to visit to enjoy quality time with friends and family for breakfast...

Great place to have a coffee and something sweet/savoury either before, during or after that hectic shopping trip. Take the kids or grand kids for a midday cold drink and nibbles served in their own play area whilst they indulge in the ever popular drawing, colouring or education corner. Easily overseen by M&D whilst they get on with the business of chatting. All cakes are made fresh daily on the premises downstairs.
