Café Madeleine — Restaurant in Ashford

I ordered my chicken casserole and tea and was checking I had the correct card when the waitress moved the card reader so it was used. I told her I had not intended to pay with that card but as it was not a major issue I told her it was ok. She told me it was good as she did not know how to sort it out so it was a good job it was not my business card. When I sat down the table was covered in crumbs, obviously not cleaned recently. I brushed the crumbs off, I had eaten there before and the food had been good, so I thought I would proceed. I had only just poured out my tea when my food arrived, I am not sure how they did it but the cheese coated crust and dish were hot as usual but biting into a piece of chicken I found it cold. They said they would sort it out but I did not feel like eating it any more and asked for a refund which was given in cash and did not include the tea which was untouched. Overall a bad experience and I would give zero stars...

Really disappointed. This was one of my favourite cafes in Ashford and I was utterly disappointed with the food and the customer service for the first time in 4 years.

I am not usually a nightmare customer, however, I was presented with the disaster in the image which was meant to be a jacket potato. It was swimming in grease from the baked cheddar on top, and the beans were incredibly soupy. The server made a snark comment, asking whether I've had a jacket potato before 🤣. I've never been met with such level of service, it is absolutely appalling. I would've understood if they at least provided me with 50% refund or even a pastry item in replacement.

Very poor, it's such a shame. As much as we love the green smoothies and other items here, this event left a bad taste in our mouths. Clearly understaffed for the server, but that is something she should discuss with management and not mistreat...

Can only give one star as both myself and daughter ordered the same meal scrambled eggs and bacon (not a difficult order!) however my daughters meal was delivered which I must say looked extremely nice, however after about 5 minutes my meal had still not arrived, I then realised a little while later that it wasn’t going to !! I queried as to where my food was told they had made a mistake and would cook it now! I went and sat back down for a few minutes in which time my daughter had finished her breakfast!! As we were pushed for time and I had lost my appetite by this time I requested a refund!! Not really good enough for such a simple order. I will return as food looked nice (shame I didn’t get to taste it) and was very reasonably priced. Just hope I get some food...
