Trattoria Romana — Restaurant in Ashford

This was our first time at this restaurant. However sadly it will be our last ! I booked for three people. On arriving they were confused as they had booked us in for four people. No real warm greeting. We ordered drinks and our meal. When it all arrived it seemed to be very much rushed. As we started our main course. We all said how awful the chips were. They really tasted strange! No one came to our table to ask if everything was satisfactory. I had to try and get a waiters attention. Not very successfully they both seemed stressed and rushed! Eventually I managed to get a waiters attention when we had nearly finished our meal. He did not seem at all concerned about our complaint about the chips. Just cleared our plates away.

No apologies at all that the chips were awful and that we had left them.

Another waiter immediately arrived with a sweet trolley. We asked to wait as it was too soon and rushing us into having dessert. No one came to ask if we needed more drinks. Although our wine bottle was empty.

I had to keep trying to get the waiters attention as we wanted to order another bottle of wine The sweet trolley waiter returned and he rattled off all the desserts so quickly we had to ask him to repeat more slowly. He said he had chocolate gateau. Two of our party ordered it . However upon tasting it was black cherry gateau and NOT chocolate gateau.! It reminded me of school dinners, rushed, abrupt and almost thrown at us! Eventually I got a waiters attention who did not seem at all concerned, no apologies, no offer to put it right whatsoever! I was shocked to see we had been charged £11 service charge ! For very poor service, by rushed miserable waiters! We will not...

If you want to try this, please dine in or collect. Don't bother with the crooks at Uber. The restaurant had made our food really really quickly but the driver was parked in the Canterbury road Holiday Inn (hmmm) for over 20 minutes before cancelling. The second driver was on a push bike and cancelled after cycling across town. They couldn't have cared less.

The food is so good that despite it being lukewarm, my containers were empty and plate was licked clean! 5/5 food as always. Cannot fault the restaurant.
