I visited Peggotty's Tea Shoppe with friends after a recommendation from someone living locally. We had the Tenterden Special Afternoon Tea which was £17pp and included a sandwich, a fruit or plain homemade scone, served with homemade jam and clotted cream, a slice of cake and a pot of loose leaf tea or a cup of filter coffee. The tea room is quaint and very small in size so booking is definitely required. We arrived 10 minutes early for our table and did not receive the warmest of welcome, so I would say don't turn up any earlier than your booked time as there is no space to sit and wait for your table. I decided to try the camomile tea but didn't enjoy the taste but the English breakfast tea was really nice. All the food tasted amazing; the sandwich fillings were so flavoursome, we had smoked salmon and cream cheese, BLT, prawn and avocado & brie and streaky bacon. We all chose the fruit scone and they were so warm and fluffy. The rolo cake tasted lovely but not an overpowering rolo taste that I was hoping for! The price was incredibly reasonable, I just wish the service was friendlier as I just felt disappointed after our visit as if we were an...
Read moreGiven this three stars as generous and haven't got the heart to give less.. First impressions it seems nice enough tea shop to get a bite to eat in..
We'll thankfully it was a nice day and sat outside.. The lady seemed to take pride in her business which is always good to see, but handed one menu for two people.. Then browsing for cold drinks there wasn't any listed.. Instead told me what she had and explained the freezer was frozen shut..
We'll that was painless I guess but then the glass came out and had dirt round the outside which is crumbs.. All I did was ask for a clean glass and what I got was a life story about the trees and the dirt that must've fallen down, rather than say no problems I will change it. I figured I would look at Google reviews (which I'm sure your doing right now as you wait for your order)..
We'll lets hope your not alone or your have the owner sit next to you as you eat, tell you all about the traffic wardens being over zealous and how it's the hardest place in Kent to park etc etc.. Had to tell my friend to shut up and stop talking...
Make sure you got cash as don't accept card and you will be returning for another...
Read moreWe went to Peggottys for a cream tea firstly to get in you have to ring a ring doorbell The staff were friendly and we were seated quite quickly once seated our order was taken shortly after there was a good choice of sandwiches but you are only limited to having one filling it’s extra cost for prawn or salmon as well (normally the cream tea comes with a selection of sandwiches) The scones were a bit over done and the fruit one had hardly no fruit but it was ok not the best we have had to honest the cakes were good just one choice not a small selection We were told we could have as much tea or coffee as we wanted but after getting our cream tea we didn’t see any staff again and was not offered any more drinks or asked if all was ok with the cream tea When we arrived a few tables still were not cleared of old plates etc Overall the tea room is nice but need a...
