It was myself my wife and my two tots, two and three year old. This was one of the few places serving food in that weird gap in Barmouth where everywhere closes at 4pm and nowhere opens for food until 6pm. Its only weird if you ha e kids on a routine...which we where!

I booked in advance, which I highly recommend. Anyone attempting to come in without a booking were turned away pretty quick!

The service was great and the food was amazing.

I ordered the sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. My wife ordered Lobster, which was on the specials, she LOVED it. I stole a few bites myself and was slightly jealous. Thankfully they had a good choice for children. My two year old had the giant fish goujons, he really wanted mash and the staff was happy to make the switch from chips. My three year old had the spaghetti in a season tomato sauce which she loved!

There is a fantastic menu of deserts. I ordered two of the children's toy ice cream, both came as chocolate and the staff again was very happy to change one to vanilla. My wife and I shared the strawberry sundea with was so big our children had to help.

Absolutely fantastic and...

The food wasn't great. My husband had the mussel and calamari penne and I had poached plaice with crab meat in a seafood sauce. The food we got was over cooked and it seems the mussels were a cheap frozen pack and the result was rubbery in texture. The cream sauce that it came with it was unseasoned and bland. The plaice was also over cooked and rubbery around the edges. The crab meat was unexpectedly missing and replaced with the same rubbery mussels and calamari that was on my husbands plate. Again, the creamy seafood sauce was unseasoned and bland. We ordered diet coke as our drinks these were poured from 500ml little bottles. We were waiting ages to get our bill and the older waitress walked past our table oblivious to us. The desserts were tiny and were all bought in frozen Costco specials. But the portions were half what the recommended ones were. This is a coastal town where seafood should be fresh, easy to find as this was a seafood restaurant it should have been beautiful and amazing to dine there, but it just...

I'm actually gutted to be writing this review as we thought we had found a good haunt when we first tried last week. 2 adults & 2 children all had a lovely lunch time meal the previous week so we rebooked for the 2 adults for an evening meal the following weekend. The starter was lovely for both of us but we both ordered fillet steak for our main and I don't know what meat it was but it certainly wasn't a beef steak. It didn't look like one, taste like one or even cut like one. I was genuinely gutted as it has put me off going back again because I feel like it's just rude to expect somebody not to notice and left feeling like we've been totally ripped off. You don't order a fillet steak if you don't know exactly what to expect on your plate so the audacity to think you can pull that off is unbelievable. I can't complain about the service, both times it has been spot on, lovely women but unfortunately we won't be returning after been...

Turned up yesterday for a table of 6 and hadn't booked, I think more by luck we were able to get a table. The restaurant was spotless, the staff were great and the food was amazing, infact the food was faultless. This is a little family run gem of a business which isn't normally open of a Sunday evening after 5pm but accommodated helping out the town for a busy bank holiday weekend! It's a shame more venues didn't do the same. We look forward to a return visit in the near future and also a visit to your Cafe directly opposite as l'm sure this is going to be the same quality! have seen comments regarding overpriced, This isn't true at all! It is very much priced average for the area but yet I believe for the quality and service, you are definitely getting your moneys worth here! see you soon Scott & Family

We rang up last minute and they were able to book a table of 6 of us in. The decor was a bit of a shock. Old and dated. Almost felt as if we were dinning in someones living room. There was a large variety of drinks on offer. A very large menu and specials board. Lots of fish dishes on menu. I order the sea bass which was delicious and my partner had the venison steak which he couldn't fault. A big negative for me was the waitress who made a rude remark when 2 of our party asked for their starters to come out with mains (as if they were side dishes.) This made our whole group feel awkward and uncomfortable. It was very unprofessional and would put me off going back.
