Visited approx 7pm on Monday night. 3 adults, 1 child, 1 baby. Will never come back! The food was shocking. Disgusting what we paid for the so called food

Ordering at bar, was easy, and the woman who took orders was lovely and helpful, a promising start. Made 2 orders to same table.

1st order completed 1 adult, 1 child, 1 baby. Whilst I was placing my order, for 2 adults, the main meal for the 1st order was already being delivered to our table!!! Obviously had been nuked wharp speed in microwave...... shocking! The only good thing about that was it was stilĺ hot by the time we'd got carverys for the 2 little ones.

My order was disgraceful. Ordered 1 starter and was asked if we'd like it to come out as a starter or with main meals.....asked for all food together. Well, it came out as starter! And that looked like it'd been nuked in microwave as well. Looked awful. Ordered a chicken combo, with added chicken strips....wow! Again, nuked in microwave. The so called chicken strips were the thinnest fingers of chicken, more batter than chicken, the coleslaw was runny and had no taste like the cheapest supermarket brand, accompanying sauces in pots sized for children. The whole meal looked like a kids meal, it wasn't! I had carvery, tiniest sliver of meat, cold yorkshire pudding/mash potato/parsnips, cauliflower cheese....where was the cheese? Shrivelled vegetables and lukewarm at best .....oh but the gravy was hot. No taste to any of the carvery.

All of the food from both orders looked miserable and bland and tasted accordingly.

Didn't order desert, we'd no idea how they'd come out and we'd spent enough money to be disappointed, we just wanted to leave.

To add to the horror, having children with us we sat in family area, tables pitted/damaged due to wear and tear, had to pick put cleanest high chair we could find and still had to wipe it down. The only good thing.......was the girls toilets were clean.

Miserable experience all round and certainly wouldn't spend my hard earned money in there again. Sad to say, no one seemed to care, no one bothered once we had our food and it was quiet, so no excuses for service or food that came out from kitchen....... no pride in the place at all. Very disappointed as last time I ate there the carvery was genuinely...

Let’s start with a positive, the carvery today was absolutely lovely - other than running out of certain items which is expected on a busy Sunday, I genuinely couldn’t fault it.

However that’s the only positive from the experience I’ve had. We ordered two carveries for takeaway, headed over to the takeaway collection counter as directed by the front of house member of staff to be stood waiting whilst numerous members of staff walked past not even having the decency to acknowledge me. A simple “someone will be with you in a minute” is all it needed but that was obviously too much to ask for. After waiting a while a JustEat driver came in and he was served instantly by a member of the team. Who then couldn’t avoid me further and when I explained I was there to collect rather sharply told me to join the carvery queue. Why wasn’t this explained by front of house? I was stood being ignored for 10 minutes when I could have used that time to queue. The queue was long and a lot of the items had run out but again busy Sunday so I’m not complaining about that. We’d ordered two carveries with beef via the app and when I got to the front of the queue and showed my app to the lady serving the carvery I was greeted by a rather firm sigh and an eye roll when she realised it was for takeaway and would have to put the meat in takeaway cartons. She then rather rudely said “we don’t have beef” no explanation of how I could swap it for anything else or what was on offer. From there everything was fine collected my food and another lady who was on the carvery counter couldn’t have been more helpful helping me pack it into a bag so I could carry everything (I didn’t catch her name but wish I did because she deserves some recognition for picking up this already awful experience).

It’s so disappointing as the food is lovely and with great service it could be amazing but I can’t overlook rude and ignorant staff in a customer service environment. There is no excuse for it. Sad to say it’s not something we’ll be doing again as there’s plenty of other carveries around the area that can offer the same level of food and hopefully better...

If I could have given the service and atmosphere zero stars, I would. 1 star, quite frankly, is too generous. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I can't strictly comment on food quality as you'll see from the complaint below that I shared with the chain, we left without actually having any food.

We arrived just before our booking and had to wait 15 minutes due to the front of house worker arranging a table for a group of people who had not booked in. When asked about it, "Nathan" was extremely rude. I understand the pub was busy and sometimes staff may get stressed, but it is absolutely their choice to work in customer service, and if they cannot be polite when responding to a request, they should not be working in said profession. I then went to place our food order at the bar to then be told there is no availability for food from the kitchen due to being a chef down. There was no apology or offer to rectify the situation, just a stating of the facts that could have been given to us politely when signing in for our booking. A £1 coin was taken by a games machine my stepson was using, which I then had to queue to get back from the bar. This was the final straw and we decided to leave without having any food or drinks. I complained to the other front of house staff and to let them know there was a table available for other customers as we were leaving. The ladies at the front were very apologetic when I told them what had happened. I told them that it was not their fault, but the whole experience was tainted from the moment we walked in when "Nathan" was extremely rude to both myself and another customer who also enquired about the booking system. The whole experience and system was an utter shambles and my family and I will never return to that establishment. This should have been a treat for my family on a Sunday, and instead, the whole atmosphere created an aggravating experience that has left us annoyed, hungry and insulted.
